mike is now attending the October show  :D

hi joined the RAF in Jan57 on a DC B.

I was posted to Kirton Lindsay for basic training and then to Swanton Morley for AEO training.

After 12 months at Swanton was posted to Wadding ton to do the Vulcan B Mk1 course.

then posted to the staff of the OCU for the next 4 years as an instructor.

During this time he was teaching pilot and navs aircraft electrics and also converted to the Mk2.  

In Sep62 I was crewed up with Dick Haven and posted to 12Sqn which was reforming with Vulcan B Mk2 at RAF Coningsby.

In 1962 12 Sqn operate eight Avro Vulcan V-bombers, initially from RAF Coningsby then RAF Cottesmore equipped with Yellow Sun one megaton free-fall strategic nuclear bombs for medium to high altitude release.

total service time was 8yrs and left with the rank of FLT.LT.

Dont usually meet these guests but growing up I loved the Vulcan. Nice guest

A good guest but couod we have some of the forgotton heros of the Second World war, the Polish Pilots, who came to our help at the time we neeeded them most, and were then let down by the goverment
