lamb43
My friend and I will be flying into Birmingham from Austria and I would like to know EXACTLY what I need to do to get a shuttle to the hotel. Is it easier to take a cab? Is a taxi expensive? I have never been to Birmingham or even Great Britian so I have NO idea what the transportation systems are like or what I would need to do. At least my english is perfect...that should help!
Queen_Sindel
Personally I think it's easier (and less expensive) to walk the last bit. At the airport you take the train (it's a small train, like at Frankfurt airport between the terminals if you've ever been there) to the train station. You leave the train, follow the signs in the direction of NEC. There is signs saying "hotel shuttles" if I remember correctly. But once you've reached the shuttle point it's a maybe 5 minute walk to the hotel, so I normally don't bother waiting. I was told taxis from the airport are 10 pounds, but I never tried myself. There is a map somewhere on here... I'll go and search for it. EDIT: Found the map - was hiding in ET5 section. I am very familiar with the Frankfurt airport so that helps. I would walk but I think my luggage will be too heavy and burdensome to carry so I will wait for the shuttle. YOu have explained it perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to get the map for me. You're a doll!!
Queen_Sindel
You're welcome. If you want to stick with the shuttle I think there's a courtesy phone somewhere at the train station which you need to use to call the shuttle. I've always walked, so I have no idea where exactly that phone is, but hopefully someone can help out there.

The shuttle phone is in the airport side on the ground floor near the escalators - but collects at the train station at the foot of the escalators near the monorail. ~Jenny~
If you know what time your going to arrive at the station. I think you can order the shuttle bus. I think when I looked it was every 15 min's. It was a while ago when I did this but, log in your Hilton booking through your email. I saw it somewhere on there. jazz5490
If your luggage is on wheels it's a really really easy walk all downhill there I think I ended up trying to walk into the airport when I got off the train last time but it takes 5-10 mins to get to the hilton from the airport but there's also a phone in the place to order the shuttle bus from!
