Tanith
I'm just curious, I know that it is absolutely not allowed to record the video of a guest talk but seen 1 or 2 videos on Youtube from LFCC with just the sound of a guest talk and so I was wondering is recording the audio of a guest talk actually allowed? Also is it okay to use things guests say during a guest talk in say an article. Like for example if Joe Flanigan had interesting info about Atlantis/What he's doing now would it be okay to use quotes from the talk and mentioned this event as being the source. I mainly ask as im looking for material to write an article on Gateworld (Main site for Stargate news).
Queen_Sindel
As far as I know audio recording is not allowed too, but TooTall hopefully will confirm later today. If you're writing for Gateworld maybe an exception can be made regarding audio. I'd check with the organisers booth. Using quotes from a talk is definitely okay, I've done that myself in my convention reports quite often. Showmasters Admin Too Tall Posted August 17, 2010 Showmasters Admin Share Posted August 17, 2010 Audio recording (along with video recording) of the talks is not allowed, unless express permission is given by Showmasters.
Tanith
Okay, just to mention there are some guest talk videos on Youtube from LFCC that arnt that hard to find. You should be able to request they be brought down quite easily.
TurkFox
Yeah I've tried reporting one from Muggle Mayhem, lots of us have, but it apparently needs to be the person it belongs to or something that gets it taken down?
Queen_Sindel
Yeah, we know about those videos. Unfortunately there's someone at every event who won't follow the rules. Yeah I've tried reporting one from Muggle Mayhem, lots of us have, but it apparently needs to be the person it belongs to or something that gets it taken down? Yes, that's the problem. They're quite picky with who reports a violation. It has to be the "owner" or sometimes it works if you're the person on the video.
