danvader123@hotmail.co.uk
Oh yes starting a new thread for the film have some news already: Coming Soon has a great description which we'll post below in case this video is pulled before you get a chance to check it out. Johnny Depp appeared as Captain Jack Sparrow in full 3D, sitting on the beach with a bottle of rum and speaking directly to an audience. He told everyone that it certainly wasn't the case that he would soon be embarking on a quest to find the fountain of youth but that, even if he were, he wouldn't be looking for a crew. But, if he did, would anyone in the audience be interested? He promised that such an adventure would include "zombies, cutthroats, mermaids and... Penelope Cruz" and that it would be the kind of quest that would require "A bloody map. Or a bloody Mary. Or both." Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will hit theaters on May 20, 2011. Take special note on the "zombies" aspect Depp highlights. It's a well known fact these movies incorporated horror elements (skeleton pirates, fishmen monsters, etc.). So it's not a big surprise that zombies are on the menu with their recent rise in cultural popularity. see the video while you can here: http://www.horrorbid.com/blog/blog1.php/20...n-pirates-of-10 Here are some set photos:

danvader123@hotmail.co.uk
blackbeards ship “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides†captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise –this time in Disney Digital 3D. In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain ofYouth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past. Rush reprises his role as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa, and Kevin R. McNally returns as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs. Claflin stars as a stalwart missionary, while Berges-Frisbey is transformed into a mysterious mermaid.

Queen_Sindel
I agree with nicky there. I know we had walking skeletons and all that in past movies. So if you say the series has horror elements I can see that. But I in my eyes the movie can not be classed as a horror movie. I'll merge the topic from Horror movies with the one in the general movies section. Edited August 3, 2010 by Queen_Sindel

I wouldnt even see that as a horror element - in the context of this film I'd class it under fantasy.

It will have some zombies in this film as well as other creatures that are based on horror elements thats why I placed it into the horror topic. danvader123@hotmail.co.uk
The first image of Ian McShane as Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has leaked online. As you can see, he’s got a blackbeard and is dressed in pirate garb. Not really sure what else you would expect.

Daniel
I'm not a big fan of the Pirates of The Caribbean and was not crazy on this one either. Keira's absence didn't help. I thought the mermaids scene was well done though.
