About how far in advance of the HUBs should we normally expect the first Official guest announcement.  just wonder out of personal interest

We've technically had it in Indira Varma being announced at the last event. They don't always get around to posting a 'new guest announcement' thread for the guests announced at the previous event.

oh sorry um i didn't mean first i meant other guest annoucements how close to the event can guest announcements be made

I think anytime between now and the event is as precise as anyone can be. As soon as Showmaters/Massive Events have a guest signed up they announce it, so it's just a case of watch this space.

They could technically announce a guest AT the event (hey, Kai turned up on Saturday night at Hub 3 completely by surprise!)

If you mean how late a guest announcement can be made... With Torchwood being an UK based show technically guest announcements could happen until the day of the event.

For a second and third guest announcement there's really no time frame. Bitten had one guest for quite a while, while the Stargate event got a third guest announced quite soon after the last event.

Mmmm, just wondering why Kai's pic isn't up on the guest announcements page.

At Hub 4 didn't they say that Kai would be back for Hub 5 (and as MC)?

And Hub 5 isn't listed on his Con list on his website.

Any ideas guys?

I don't think there was ever an official announcement for Kai, they just said it would be likely he'd be there.

I think it was sort of a 'Kai has agreed to come back' but with an unspoken 'subject to contracts and everything like that being sorted out'.

(And Kai has been on the busy side since Hub4, what with the baby being born a few days later and all)

Well, since posting this, I've found out that he hasn't been FORMALLY invited yet....

C'mon Massive Events, get that invitation to him before he gets booked up.

Kai is such a great Hub guest and I would imagine everyone would love to have him there!

I am starting to get a bit worried, I'm afraid. Between SM's stated concerns about the future of the Hub and the fact that only one guest has been announced so far, I'm a bit nervous about booking a flight, lest the convention not go forward. So, naturally, I'd love to see an announcement that Kai was going to attend.

Of course, I'd love to see such an announcement anyway, because Kai is lovely, and I've missed seeing him. Okay, maybe this is just an excuse to mention Kai a lot. :)

Ah, the lovely Kai - definitely any excuse to mention Kai Owen a lot, about Hub 5 and Kai Owen...not that I'm doing it at all, about Kai Owen either  

Yep I hope they start announcing more guests too - from what I've read around the Net, this will most likely be the last Hub, and it would be lovely to see it go out on a huge high.

I am somewhat dubious about booking for Hub 5 in case it doesn't go ahead (I hope it does though, I absolutely love these weekends) but it doesn't seem like this one has got half the enthusiasm the others have had, and thats a shame.  I would love Kai to be announced, but really I'd be happy with anyone, I know we have one guest and she will be brilliant, and that it takes time to get others involved, but I'm eager to book yet so reluctant because I don't want to be disappointed should it not go ahead.  At the other Hub conventions, I've booked almost straightaway, but something is stopping me this time until another month or so has passed.  I'll definitely be there though, for sure.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that they said that this Hub will definitely go ahead but it's the next one that they're unsure about.

If people don't book tickets because they're worried it's going to be cancelled it looks like there's little interest in the con.

Yeah, that's how I took it too, it was something along the lines of 'The Hub 5 will go ahead no matter what the ticket sales are like but if we want to keep running these events, we need to make sure the numbers stay about how they are or increase again'. Obviously, if the ticket sales for this event were super low, it could be cancelled but I hope that won't be the case, I booked my ticket as soon as they went on sale. Also I agree, if people are worried about booking because of the cancellation then it'll look like there's no interest which will actually cause the cancellation to happen. Having said that, it's completely understandable to be worried of course, I am & especially would be if I was having to book plane tickets etc.

I did see that ME had said that, but have become more concerned as time goes by and Kai has not (according to his group) been formally asked, yet.

Just to be clear, I booked my gold ticket quite a while back, but am nervous about booking a flight until I know for certain that it will go forward. I don't mind supporting SM/ME on spec, as I love their events, but am not willing to throw money at an airline without good cause.

I think the main thing with Hub 5 is that JB is clashing.  I know quite a few of my friends who attend hubs aren't going because they're going to see John but they said that they'll attend the next one (if there is one).

I wasn't going to go originally since I have two concerts to attend but i'm probably going to end up going because I love the hubs.

Ill be seeing John a couple of weeks after the Hub in October in Cardiff. As I study at the Uni it is so incredibly close to my halls. :) but i do realise he does clash with the HUb in his other concerts.

I'm seeing John in Cardiff and Birmingham.  One with my mate, the other with my mother lol.

I do know quite a few who are going to all or most of his concert dates though, so that's probs why they've decided to give Hub a miss this time.  I think i'm gonna be all alone at Hub 5 -sniffles- lol
