No need for BBCi round here .....
Wanted : Kris Kristofferson, Anna Paquin, Victor Garber, Adam Baldwin, Michael Ironside, Tanya Roberts.

Lost guests - especially John Terry, Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn.

LOTR Guests - especially Bernard Hill, Sala Baker, Ian Holm, Hugo Weaving and Peter Jackson.

There's something wrong with the world today. I don't know what it is. Something's wrong with our eyes.

If I was to decide my very own Bafta nominees and winners, I would choose...

Best Director: Peter Jackson

Best Film: ROTK

Best Actor: Elijah Wood

Best Supporting Actor: Bernard Hill
(Sean Astin, Viggo Mortensen, Ian Mckellen nominated)

Best Supporting Actress: Miranda Otto
(Liv Tyler nominated)

I'm putting Nordberg forward for Best Director. That's if I can ever find him. He's still mumbling on about finding the real killer.
Mrs. Nordberg: Oh, my poor Nordberg! He was such a good man, Frank. He never wanted to hurt anyone. Who would do such a thing?
Frank: It's hard to tell. A gang of thugs, a blackmailer, an angry husband, a gay lover...

Frank: A good cop - needlessly cut down by some cowardly hoodlums.
Ed: No way for a man to die.
Frank: You're right, Ed. A parachute not opening - that's the way to die, getting caught in a combine, having your nuts bit off by a Laplander. That's the way I want to go.

Drebin: Nordburg... it's me, Frank. Now who did this to you?
Nordburg: (groaning)I...Love You....
Drebin: I love you too, Nordburg. Who were they?
Nordburg: Ship... boat...
Drebin: That's right, Nordburg, a boat. Now, when you're better we'll go sailing together, on a boat. We'll take a cruise just like last year.
Nordburg: drugs....
Drebin: Hey Nurse! Give this man some drugs, quick.. can't you see he's in pain? Give him a shot, quickly!
Nordburg: no... heroin...heroin, Frank...
Drebin: Nordburg... that's a pretty tall order. You're gonna have to give me a couple a days on that one.

VOTE FOR FRANK DREBIN IN THE FORUM AWARDS - THE BEST DAMN FORUM COP THERE EVER IS

Poor choices there. Where are the big guns like Last Samurai and Lost in Translation?

Oooh I hope it wins them all then it is a funny class film, I just mean what the hell are Master and Commander and Return of the King doing in there? They're okay but not what I'd call award worthy films. Where's Seabiscuit too?

Yeah I really want to see Lost in Translation - Bill Murray is wicked!!!!

But, I have to disagree with you about ROTK - it's amazing! The special-effects, the acting, the story-line, the amount of work put into it etc. etc.

Oh its defintely award worthy!!!!

I dunno it's just another one of those event movies like Godzilla was a few years back. Everyone will rave about it now but it'll be last weeks chip paper this time next year. I didn't think that it was anything special. The only thing it should get awards for is effort of production.

I actually thought the acting was dreadful, and the storyline boring, but thats just my opinion. I also thought the effects in this one were pretty ropey, especially Gollum at the beginning.

Oh please, it's nothing like Godzilla (ha ha)!

I certainly can't remember Godzilla creating such a strong fanbase, being recognised by critics across the globe as a 5/5 movie, or having as many forums such as this one dedicated to it!!!!!

I think we will have to agree to disagree! The LOTR is fantastic in my opinion, but at the end of the day...that is only my opinion!!!!!!

Cheers :)

Well maybe that was the wrong example lol. What I meant is that it is one of those films that makes a lot of noise and doesn't actually live up to the hype when you finally see it. I know I will have forgotten about it in a years time. I certainly don't believe it has the longevity of Star Trek or Star Wars, and especially in merchandising terms where people are still collecting Star Wars figures almost 30 years after it first began.

I personally thought everything about the Lord of the Rings films was ordinary from the acting to the effects to the story.

Well, it's quite refreshing to meet someone who feels like that!

It's good that you have your own strong opinions about it - I suppose time will tell whether it becomes a classic or fades away!

Welcome to the forum anyway :)

I personnally think that LOTR's will be around for many years.  It is a master piece and will remain this along side Star Wars ect.
Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if we all liked the same things life would be dull!!!
I guess we should come back to this topic in a years time and see if LOTR's is still making it big  And ppl still remember it.
