"VICTOR - is based on the true life story of Victor Davis, the Canadian Olympic and World Champion swimmer. It is the inspiring chronicle of a great Canadian hero – a working class kid from small-town Ontario, who through sheer guts and determination overcame both physical and psychological challenges to reach the ultimate pinnacle of his sport.
VICTOR showcases both the unrelenting drive and the ferocious ‘showboat’ personality that made Victor unique among other Canadian sporting heroes. Known as a master of psychological warfare, Victor’s use of intimidation and mind games was and is, legendary – many of his races won before any swimmer hit the water. Impassioned and intensely competitive, Davis loathed mediocrity and would accept no excuse for losing. So strong was his revulsion of second place, Victor would not display silver medals on his walls.
The film was the highest rated movie in over a decade in Canada, receiving both critical acclaim, and 5 Gemini nominations (Canada's Emmys), including "Best TV Movie" - ultimately winning 2. Additionally, it recently won 'Best Director' honours at the Moscow International Sports Film Festival.
VICTOR is written by and stars Mark Lutz, and is a production by the award-winning team of producer Bernie Zukerman and director Jerry Ciccoritti."
