gemma85
Hello, might seem like a silly question, but I was just wondering if we are able to take pics at the gold drinks reception. I dont specifically mean posed pics but just pics of the guests in general whilst their mingling about? I just thought it would be awesome to have a little souvenir of the eveniing. Queen_Sindel
Like Yvonne posted, taking pictures of or with the guest is not allowed I'm afraid. You can take general pictures at the party afterwards, like of you and your friends dressed up and in costume, general athmosphere pictures and that. But there is a request in the convention booklet not to take pictures of the guests, or ask for pictures with them. It's happened at other events that attendees were crowding the guests taking pictures and all that, and the guests felt uncomfortable and left. Cider
Yeah, you have the opportunity to have a professional posed photo with them and you can take photos while they are on stage in the guest talks. But imagine what it must be like to have a camera permanently stuck in your face while you are trying to relax and enjoy yourself and have a conversation. The guests are more likely to come out and mingle at the parties if they are not crowded or worried about pictures being posted all over the internet within minutes. Not suggesting that anyone here would do that, but it has been known to happen. More great memories are likely to happen when cameras are not around, than when they are - so you just have to keep them in your head :)
Ginnean
sorry just want to check i have read that all correctly. fancy pants gold drinks reception - no photos at all tropicana friday, bal saturday and chill out party sunday - photos of atendees ok, but photos of guests aren't but what about during the day on saturday and sunday when me and mates are just hanging round inbetween talks or waiting in line for sutographs/photos, i am presuming its still a big no-no to take pics of guests but can we take pics of ourselves during those times? Charlie Aome
Ya I'm with Ginnean. We're allowed to take pics of ourselves right even if the guests just happen to be there. Like if i'm waiting in like to take my pic with James can i take a pic of me and my friends waiting in line? I mean i don't want to make the guests uncomfortable and i won't take pics of them with it's not allowed but am i not allowed to have my camera at all if the guests are going to be around? That'd make me sad I'm planning on taking as many embarrassing pictures of you all as i can :-P
Queen_Sindel
but what about during the day on saturday and sunday when me and mates are just hanging round inbetween talks or waiting in line for sutographs/photos, i am presuming its still a big no-no to take pics of guests but can we take pics of ourselves during those times? Yes on both accounts. No photos of or with the guests, but it's okay to take pictures of your group. I guess you could take photos there while the line doesn't move as long as you don't block the way. At the parties it is okay to have the camera out. Just don't crowd the guests and/or cover them with flashes.

My friend Angie didn't get a photo but i told her we could wait in line together and such. Is that ok? If when i go she just steps aside and then we can walk out together? Is that against the rules? I promise to not take pics of the guests at the party but the rest of u be prepared!!!! lol i plan on documenting the whooooole weekend of all our crazy antics!! can't wait. None of you are safe from my camera lol :-P
Ginnean
hahaha i will be doing the same, i get very snap happy lol big thanks to Queen Sidel for answering my questions I know i am probably being annoying asking about things in great detail every five seconds but i am kind of ... paranoid lol I am a complete newbie and worry about breaking some kind of convention etiquette/rule so ask questions now to save embarrassment later... well sort of anyway, there will be dancing so i am not completely off the hook embarrassment wise lol but will be probably too drunk to care lol

Angie can not go in the room with you I'm afraid. Everyone who's in line will need a ticket for the session. She may be allowed to get in line with you until you enter the photo session room, but this is a decision the crew on the day will have to make. A crew member will be checking tickets/badges at one point, and this would be the point where she'd have to leave the line at the very latest. It's better to know what's allowed beforehand. It saves a lot of embarassment later. Imagine getting told off in front of a guest for taking their photo you'd feel like a dork. And worse still if it's a digital camera and they take it off you to delete the picture. I would want the ground to swallow me up....quickly..
