Majandra
Hey guys, just had a thought. Since it seems, I won't be the only German in B'ham this next weekend (dayum and I thought I was special LOL!), I thought maybe we could have a little German meet-up? Don't get me wrong, I'm traveling with 2 friends which I don't get to see too often (one is from the UK, the other from the US) so I'll be happy to spend the weekend with them but we could... dunno... meet up for coffee at one point or something? Have a drink and a laugh at one of the parties? It's just that I don't know (m)any German Torchwood fans, so I thought it would be nice? Maybe? Sway84
Nah, you're not special Neither am I Don't know I've got time for a actual meet-up. Like you, I'm meeting up with a bunch of UK ladies I only get to see at these events. But I'm sure we'll run into each other at one of the parties. If you spot someone with shiny red hair, that might be me :)

I've sent a text to let her know about this thread! Edited October 19, 2009 by TheGoktor
hab318princess
Hi, another German here (though I reside in the UK)... would love to meet up, I don't get to speak German much in everyday life. The last two Hubs I've met some Germans, but so far it's been more informal, usually lunch or something or talking in the queues. I know that my friend from Germany will also be there. So, what about making it Saturday or Sunday lunch if people want? You'll be able to identify me by my badge (I'll have a label on it with hab318princess and JB/GDL kissing ). sheepyie
At the Chevron 7.2 were also a lot of German fans and we got in contact quite fast. I will be there with some German guys and I'm quite sure we will speak German a lot (but I'm sharing my room with a Swedish fan, so with her I will have to speak English coz my Swedish is very bad). So if you'll hear some German tones (and my voice is easy to hear *gg*) just come around and say hello :)

Majandra
I'm just trying to save me some embarrassment LOL! Happened quite a few times that I spoke to someone for hours in English only to find out that they were German.

Happened quite a few times that I spoke to someone for hours in English only to find out that they were German. Haha.. don't you love it when that happens? I remember I talked to Queen_Sindel for a bit at CM13 only to realize that she was German and we could have saved a whole lot of time. Anyways... check out my avatar (I posted a bigger version in my intro post, I believe). That's me. Feel free to chat me up whenever. :)

Majandra
My flight is on Thursday, Frankfurt - Heathrow and my friends and I take the train up to B'ham on Friday. 1:23pm from Euston station. Maybe we end up in the same train? Have you already booked the train?

Majandra
Haha, great!!! Okay, I'll be that nervous wrack in company of to nice ladies who'll pat me on the back to tell me I'll be fine and (presumably) laugh at me behind my back. If you'd like company, I'm sure you're welcome to join us (and join my friends with the back patting and laughing).
Sway84
Ah, I just saw that this is going to be your first con I've only been to the Collectormania so far (and a few other James-related events) but your ladies are right. You will be fine :) I've reserved a seat for me (as it was for free) but if I spot you (or your spot me, I'm terrible with faces), feel free to shout out at me. I'm sure there won't be many girls with the shiny red hair *loves her hair* so I should be an easy target
Majandra
Yup, I'm a con virgin. I blame Gareth for popping it. No seriously... there just are no (interesting) cons in Germany, so where would I go? I will look for a flaming red-head.
Sway84
Bwaha.... everyone has a reason. I'm mostly there for James for but if time and money allows it (who am I kidding here?), I'll go and get another pic with Gareth. We're slowing warming up to each other Yeah, Germany isn't much of a con-country. Guess there's the language barrier since more of the "interesting" stuff is either from the US or the UK. I think there were a few Lord of the Rings related conventions and maybe Star Trek/Wars but that's it. Other stuff gets little to no recognition over here, given that we do get it in the first place. Yep, red head, black coat and a GREEN bag. That's most likely me.

Yeah, there's another show and another show in Bonn. Not a LotR fan and I like Star Trek but I'm never that excited about the guests they invite and the one time they invited someone I'd LOVE to meet, they withdrew the invitation after a month because according to them, there wasn't much feedback to his announcement. I'm still wondering how they knew? It's not like you buy a ticket and tell them: I'm coming because you invited guest xyz? And he's not related to Star Trek in any way, so I never quite understood why they invited him in the first place but I was peeved that they de-invited him nevertheless. Morons... Yep, red head, black coat and a GREEN bag. That's most likely me. I'll just shout something in German... if the person doesn't react, it's probably not you! LOL! Me: brown hair, black coat, red bag. Slightly greenish skin color because ready to puke on trails. And not nervous at all.
sheepyie
Ladies, you are so right about German not being a Con-country *sigh* That's why I started two years ago to visit UK-Cons. My boyfriend is not so happy about me traveling just to see some actors, that's why I will never be able to fly to USA for a Con *snif* Wow, I noticed yesterday that the Pound looks "good" to the Euro

Or it is me and I have my mp3 player all cranked up I have a seat in coach C if you like to swing by there in case we miss each other on the platform. Ah, no need to be nervous .... says the girl who cried for 10 minutes after my very first photo op with James.
hamburger
Just count two other Germans for the Hub3 :) Andrea and I (Claus) will arrive on Thursday. We take a flight from Hamburg to Birmingham and will stay until Sunday, but we won't be able to see the closing ceremony. If you see a couple (he like Jack, she in Black) that's probably us. Just watch my avatar :) We will try to visit a pub at Thursday. Maybe we could organize us (the reception maybe at ??:?? o'clock).
