Noone put a gun to your head and made you spend £200 on a gold ticket. Equally noone is forcing you to go to Collectormania and buy an autograph and a photo and the talk with JB. That's your choice to do that. Own your actions and stop acting like the world owes you something.

Yawn. Change the record already.

Your loyalty to your friend is sweet and your copy and pasting skills are beyond reproach. Well done you.

Marsters isn't about to become an unsponsored guest - that's been discussed endlessly on here already and Showmasters have already explained their position. What more precisely do you expect them to do?

Either move on or ask for a refund.
What I was getting at was that a whole page had gone by since she made the post yet you still dragged it up again by replying with the same old 'record' that they have already been replied with.
So it wasn't really about her but more along the lines of the blatant hypocrisy of your post.

So... that happened.

Fair enough. But we're not all on the internet 24/7 and unfortunately in the last two pages Owlpost1992's charmless and entitled comment does rather stand out. Not everyone who is attending the Hub can make Collectormania - as Morgan pointed out there are plenty of people coming from overseas and John's cancellation is even more unfortunate as it comes on the heels of a complete debacle of a US con which he couldn't attend and was due to be the star attraction at. I'm sure some of my friends coming from overseas would be delighted to be in Owlpost's position of having another opportunity to see him less than a month later.

Am I happy that John has cancelled the event? No.

But people need to make the decision to move on and not whine about it anymore or not go.

Kindly explain what in my post was "blatantly hypocritical".

For it to have been hypocritical I would have had to be criticising Owlpost 1992 for constantly looking for an additional benefit  at the event (ie James Marsters becoming an unsponsored guest) whilst simultaneously doing the exact thing myself. That would be hypocrisy. As it is I'm perfectly happy with the package available as we have more guests at this event than any other Massive Events is putting on. The event is excellent value for money.

As I said, I wasn't particularly defending anyone as I have clearly stated my own views.

The Hub has more guests than anyone going to another convention could dream of.
Jason has said that we have 2 more possible guests in the pipeline.
It was said that all guests appear subject to work commitments. John is working.

I don't see any plausible reason that anyone could give to practically demand a refund or discount in any way.
Not only should we not expect one but it would be ridicoulously hard to do even if they did consider it.
I think in this case a 'no' is a 'no' and not a 'no but go on then you've twisted my leg enough so you might as well have it'

So... that happened.

Showmasters/moderators, can this this thread be closed now since it's been some time since the cancellation was announced and most of the pertinent discussion has been covered?

thanks

Christ alive, I hope JM gets unsponsored soon, JB at Collectormania is costing more money then China makes in a year. £20 for auto, £20 for Photo £15 for talk. Think there really ought to be a discount for Hub 3 ticket holders seeing as we can't get rid of £200 tickets.

Your negativity is beyond wearing at this point - I guess we can all only hope that you won't be this tiresomely vocal and negative at the event itself.

It'd be more then likely a knife to the heart. Gun crime however publicised is very rare according to police stats. I brought the ticket with John listed, I have to go to Collectormania in the hopes John will be there, I did what I had to to meet him, this is my choice.
Gareth: Were you at the show?
Me: Yes! *thinks* of course!
Gareth: Did I get you wet?
Me: No, *thankfully* I was on the other side.
Gareth: You coming to the next performance?
Me: Yup
Gareth: I'm gonna, keep an eye out for you and get you later *evil glint*
Me: Oh *$%£$%""$

Dear Mods,

As a general rule, I hate the closing of topics, but the tone of the arguing on this one is making me wince when I remember that it's a thread likely to be visited by guests. Perhaps closing this really might be in order, at this point.

This is just a thought, but should the 'not happy' thread should be reopened or given a sequel, as it were? It seems that there needs to be a place for views that really shouldn't be expressed on threads about guests, and though the one we had degenerated into chat, perhaps we need another one that doesn't get closed.
One of these centuries, I really must get around to joining the Procrastinators Club.
