as some of you know we were told today that john could not make the hub this time

i know from talking to Gavin what it has been up in the air and after talking to John today it was decided today that he had to pass on the Hub 3 , Gavin did say that John was very much looking forward to meeting the fans at the event but he just had a lot on at this time . he wants to come to another Hub event in the future and we will work on this for you all  :WINCE: .

we were also informed that the Collectormaina London date did work well with his schedule and John can attend and is looking forward to attending this event on the 29th of Nov at Olympia

we are sad that john cannot attend the Hub but we do understand he gets busy , we do have a great line up already for the Hub so it will still be a great event and we are still working on other guests for the event so the Hub 3 will be amazing and fun

see you all soon

Yes, I know what you say about one guest, BUT....

Well given the fact that this event virtually sold out of higher-priced tickets on the strength of the announcement of John, and that SM did a very clever marketing campaign to ensure that that happened, I do think that some sort of offfer of limited refunds is now in order.  I have a gold ticket, which I won't now be using, and somebody else may want.  I'd even happily accept the difference between a standard and gold.

In the circumstances, for SM not to offer anything would be very poor form, and would not exactly encourage John's legion of fans to book any future SM events.

Thats really disappointing, especially since there is now only one main cast member attending. However, there are still 11 other excellent guests so it should be a fun weekend.

I feared this news for such a long time, I'm absolutely gutted but it can't be helped. :WINCE: Pretty please can you bring him to the next Hub, I can't make the London event.  ;)

Aww no :WINCE: So disappointed but it didn't seem likely he'd be able to make it anyway. Looks like I might have to try and get to Collectormania London then!

As much as I sympathise, I have to disagree completely.

It was never a 'clever marketing campaign' - it was signing up a main cast member for a convention, who at the time was available to appear. It would have been the same had it been Eve or anyone else.

To open up refunds based on the cancellation of a single guest would set a precedent that would cause so many problems in the future.

People know that guests can cancel, and it's solely the choice of the individual to risk booking an event based on one single guest. People need to take responsibility for their own actions, and not act as if Showmasters/Massive Events have done something wrong.

I'm gutted about John's cancellation and can't make the London event so I really do hope that he can come to The Hub 4 if there is one. Are we going to get a guest replacement then? If so please can we have another main cast member or two, like Naoko Mori and Burn Gorman? Pretty please, either of those would be great. :WINCE:

Jason said they're working on more guests, so while they can't guarantee there'll be additions to the lineup, I'm sure they'll try their hardest to bring some. If not, there's still a substantial lineup.

Well said David. I pestered my brother to book for us to go to this one when John was announced, as i had such a good time at the Hub 2 i still wanted to go for that too. Of course i saw it coming when he announced La Cage so i wasn't that suprised.

Its what you make it and if your going in with the attitude that its not going to be fun then its not.
If they announce a Hub 4 with John to be there i would still book again. just hope its not on Mothers weekend as i won't be able to go to that :P
Party on

Thanks for answering. Personally, I do hope they manage to get some more guests (especially Naoko or Burn) but yeah, if they don't there's still a great line-up. I'm sure they'll manage to get at least one replacement, fingers crossed.

I'm more disappointed for my mum than me, I convinced her to come as she never does anything for herself and she loves John Barrowman, so now I feel so crap because she'll be spending that money out with no JB

That's good to hear he'll be at CM London though, I'm definitely going to that so that'll be quite good. And I'm still really looking forward to this, I'm sure it'll be amazing anyway! Just so long as James Marsters and Gareth don't cancel too lol

I think it's been said previously that Burn is busy on this weekend so my vote is for Naoko!
