Girl Number 9 doesn't begin to air until the 30th October and The Casimir Effect hasn't even finished casting or locking down the script yet never mind started filming!!!

The only one that could be shown is A Very British Cover Up but that would depend on whether the filmmakers were happy to have it shown at the event which they may or may not be.

Yeah but as with any event and film/show, they have to secure the rights (sometimes an expensive thing) to show them.

I doubt ME want to fork out god knows how much to be able to legally show it when I'm sure they already have our weekend full to the brim with stuff.

Good point well made

I hope that it either comes out on DVD or sticks around to teh interweb for a good while, my current laptop cannot handle moving pictures and sound, and borrowing the OH's leads to questions of 'What the hell have you installed this time?' and 'I was planning to raid tonight you know'

Agreed. And equally the film makers are trying to get the short into film festivals and build up credibility that way and may not possibly see it playing at a Torchwood convention as the best business move for them. It played at Sex Wales and Anarchy because that was a one day festival celebrating the best of Welsh unsigned talent.

Hopefully they'll release it either on dvd or a download via itunes at some stage (Although I must be honest I found the piece itself rather muddled and a tad incoherent but would agree that it is worth watching for Gareth's 5 minutes of screentime as he is superb and gives a very funny comic performance).

Might not cost as much seeing as it is a small film, could end up like the films Premier with people and buckets getting extra support/donations.

Also, I'd rather watch British Cover-up then see a Hen and a Stag make out, that is what a stag/hen do does.

Again this assumes that the makers of the film would want it shown at the convention which they may not. People can get snobby about conventions and if they're trying to get their film shown in competition in various film festivals they might not see airing it at the Hub as the way to go for them.

Also with a 12 guest line up there are hardly holes in the schedule desperate to be plugged with filler material.

I sense from your comment that you haven't been on many hen nights! The parties are purely what you make of them. If you go in with a negative defeatist attitude you'll have a miserable time.

Adopt the theme/don't adopt the theme, indulge in silly dancing and hang with your mates. The Friday night is all about hanging out with your fellow attendees and having a great time. You don't need "scheduled activities" to do that. Or at least I would hope not.

And besides haven't you already seen the film?

Twice?

As well as having to pay to show it, they'd probably have to hire another room too as the main hall will already be tied up as usual with panels and signings I should imagine. So add those costs together, and you're looking at something that is as likely as showing those Sarah Jane adventures in HD or episodes of Emmerdale which, let's face it, is as relevant as a film about drag queens with an actor from Torchwood in it for 5 minutes.
