I'd like an event with 600 people only because events with more people than that just get too hectic and impersonal and there's no fun in them.

As far as guests go, I'd prefer main cast, but I know that 100% is pretty unrealistic, so I think it would have to be a mixture.

I saw Zoe Saldana at an event recently and she was amazing - an incredibly intelligent, interesting panelist.

Apart from the film I'd be more interested in guests from ST:TNG, ST:VOY and ST:DS9.  I'd only care about Scott Bakula from Enterprise... and was very sad to miss him at the recent LFCC.

I'd really like to see Robert Duncan McNeill as I loved him in Voyager, and he is now a producer/director on Chuck :D

Also - what about behind the scenes people?

I have no experience of a 1000+ con and was wondering about the potential 'impersonal' feel it may bring as well as how busy it would be. The current ME format works very well, auto/photos in the morning followed by talks/etc in the afternoon. If you potentially double the number of attendees then surely something has to give way somewhere in order to fit in all the autos. Less photoshoots and or stage stuff. Of course I am assuming that autos are a 'given' there! Unless of course Friday is turned into a full day as well....

Behind the scenes people would no doubt have some interesting stories to tell. People I would be most interested in are the ones that were more heavily involved with DS9 like Ira Behr, Ronald D Moore. and Robert Wolfe
Plenty more to choose from the franchise overall though, Rick Berman, Jeri Taylor, David Gerrold, D C Fontana, Michale Okuda, Michael Westmore, Ronald B Moore, and Herman Zimmerman

Personally I've never been to a Trek con before, and I don't have a huge collection, so I'd really like some main cast.

I think it's necessary to have some, as even though there's obviously a lot of supporting cast that haven't done events, they probably won't pull in a huge amount of people.

So there should be a good balance between the two I think.

It's tricky to know who exactly the con would have to appeal to - like, for example, do fans of the new Trek movie like the old TV series or not? Stuff like that is pretty important, as there's such a wide fanbase. Trek fans who love EVERYTHING, some who only like a particular series etc.

Would people go if they were just into DS9 for example? Or just the new movie? etc.

There's a lot to take on board, and I don't envy the decision making on this one.

Any  or all from the new film

I'd love to go to a Star Trek convention.

I voted for guests from all of the shows. I did enjoy the new film but I'm not really interested in meeting people from it (apart from Quinto), but I wouldn't be put off from going if there were guests from the film as long as there were more guests from other series ;)

For the 2nd part of the poll I voted for main and supporting cast, I want to get my Star Trek cast prints all signed   Apart from the main cast though I'd like to meet other actors who played memorable and/or recurring roles (e.g. Q/ John de Lancie), I personally wouldn't be too interested in random aliens or crew members who didn't have a big part in the series though.

As for the size I voted 600 as I much prefer smaller conventions but I'm not going to decide not to go just because it's big.

Sarmy #438-Can find a random way to mention naked Zach in any discussion.

Thinks that Zachary Quinto, Sendhil Ramamurthy and David Anders would make up one heck of a sandwich...that I would be in the middle of.

my thoughts exactly!

=x=
"The power of the printed word unites the author's and the reader's imaginations to create a unique vision. Entire worlds can be carried around inside these small, cheap, paper objects that don't need plugs, modems or speakers. Books have survived for centuries; cinema is an upstart by comparison!"

"i couldnt leave him. not there!"

All was well.

I would definetely support a Star Trek convention, and I would add my support for as many guests as possible, the Captains would be an obvious attraction but as mentioned earlier some of the supporting cast have been very good to meet at various Collectomanias at MK.

Would like to see Jeffrey Combs, Marc Alaimo, Alexander Siddag, Louise Fletcher, Terry Farrell, Nicole De Boer and Nana Visitor as those are DS9 stars that I have not yet met but I'm interested in meeting stars from the other Star Trek franchises as well.

Hope it goes ahead, would be nice if it was in the midlands........

With so many con regulars out there, for a new Trek con to be a big success you probably need to have at least one of the main players from the new film or a few rare UK signers.

Alternatively something unique. Recently it was announced Patrick Stewart is doing photo ops (admittedly a small number of them) at a con in Australia in January. I think that would pull people in.

Just my 2 cents.
