WHAT A GREAT DAY - SATURDAY

Recommended Posts

Just got back from the show and i must say - WHAT A GREAT DAY

Great guests

met and got autos from:

Sendhil Ramamurthy

Jimmy Jean Louis

Keeley Hawes

Michael Ironside

Anna walton

Chris Sarandon

Scott Bakula

Edward Furlong

all the guests were friendly

the crew and other visitors were great - had great chats to many of the fellow fans - thanks

brought plenty of stuff, oriental DVDs, comics, figures etc

WELL DONE

only one downside was why there were so few VT at the start of the show, only Scott and Keeley, while Edward, Danny, Sendhil and Micheal started as open Q (danny trejo remained open q and was the only one a could not wait for)

apart from that one moan, the show was GREAT

thanks

WHAT DID EVERYBODY ELSE THINK ?

Any idea how much autos for Gary Kurtz are?

sorry not 100% sure - i think it was £15 - did not meet him - his name is also not on the price list that was being handed out - but he was there

I only got Scott's autograph today, but found him to be very pleasant indeed, there were no posed photos, but I believe that there were over 800 virtual Q tickets handed out.

He had the right balance of signing and talking to each attendee, and thought this was very professional.

I also had the problem of no virtual Q for Michael Ironside and Edward Furlong , and then finding out they were on VQ .

The one thing that I wasn't too impressed with, was the DDR being next to the talk area, there was some overspill of the DDR noise almost drowning out the talks. This got to the extent of the talk crew having to go and get the DDR turned down.

Seemed a generally busy event, but not sure how much this was down to the guests, or if it was due to the introduction of the Cosplay and gaming areas.

The queuing area at the start of the day was a bit chaotic it has to be said. I was really surprised when they said everyone except Scott and Keeley Hawes were open queues. Big name Heroes guests always seem to draw a crowd, Danny Trejo and Edward Norton were making their first UK appearances so I would think it was a given they would be pretty popular, at least for the first few hours.

The Scott queue for tickets and signatures was really well managed in getting people who didn't need to be in the signing area away to keep things clear but it all seemed to fall down because people were still crowding round to get into all the other open queues. As soon as the virtual tickets for the other guests were given out things seemed to settle down but I was really surprised it wasn't done from the off.

That said the rest of the show was very good, a photoshoot with a shirtless Danny Trejo wasn't quite what I was expecting but he was a very good guest all round. Posed for table pictures and did a very good Q&A.

Scott Bakula was good as well, friendly and corteous but kept things moving. I think I probably fell in love with Keeley Hawes a bit, she does that 'Princess Diana looking from under her eyelids' thing rather well! She seemed to be taking her time with people which meant her queue wasn't going really quickly but I wasn't complaining!

I found Jake Lloyd an interesting character, at first I thought he was a bit miserable but I think he might just have a deadpan sense of humour. It would be interesting to know just how doing such a key role in Star Wars at such a young age has really affected him.

As always Kenny Baker and Dave Prowse seemed to have long queues all day.

All in all a good day!

Any idea how much autos for Gary Kurtz are?

He was £15, had a reasonable selection of pictures as well.

Today was fab. Loved all the guys and girls in costume. Lookin good folks. I only got two auto's today. Both from really really lovely people aka keeley hawes and michael shanks. Keeley was sympathising about the corset i had on sayin she knew how i felt. Lol, and wrote the corset of doom on my pic. Lol.

There was over 800, I was 803 and in the end I did not see him. (I left about 2pm when the number on the board was either 120 or 220. Either way I thought that I would not get round to meeting him so I left. I'll hope he'll come back to a future event (hint hint...)).

I had a fantastic day!

Beginning with the dissapointment of Peter Facinelli not arriving till this evening, that went away quite quickly. Photoshoot with Sendhil, auto & pic from Josh Herdman, mega fun watching DDR, cosplayers, looking at all the merch - amazing.

As a first timer I thought it was brilliant. Can't wait for tomorrow :D

I had a great time and met some really nice people (guests and vistors). I spent way to much money but it was money well spend.

The stargate talk was fantastic. And even though we had to queue for quite a while for things and they messed up our tickets we had a great time.

Oh, and I apologise but I thought the whole Peter forgetting his passport thing was Hilarious.

Thank you showmasters

Indeed a good day

Met Edward Furlong and got my T2 poster and a Dark Reel 10x8 signed, which he seemed very surpised that I loved that film lol. He said he has never managed to sit all the way through it yet hehe, I think it's top! Totally sound guy, and he was looking good too :D

Also met Gary Kurtz, total gent and a really nice guy, as was Dave Prowse.

Tomorrow I'm gonna meet Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew to get the other sigs on my Star Wars posters and then maybe a few others.

Didn't meet many other fans, bit shy to speak to people, especially on my own, and spent a lot of time trying to work round the fact that I really didn't have enough arms to sort my posters and stuff out. If you saw a flustered blonde girl with black glasses shuffling to the photo tables with several bags, loose posters and a poster tube stuffed under every available limb then that was me lol.

Hopefulyl will speak to a few more people tomorrow

Edit: Nearly forgot - OMG that queue this morning for the early bird pre-paid?!?! I was first last year of a very small queue, this year it was like the world and his dog turned up at 8.30!

Excellent show with fantastic friendly guests.

Scott Bakula - had time to talk to every single person as he was signing - I know this slowed things down, but made the meeting extra special.

Michael Ironside - really took time meeting everyone - so friendly, asking everyones names (even in photoshoot) and showed a real interest.

Chris Sarandon - Really friendly, good sense of humour. Looked like he was enjoying himself.

Danny Trejo - what a character - get him back to another show soon!

Keeley Hawes - her 1st convention, and she was chatting like she'd known everyone for years!! Pleasure to cuddle up to her in the photoshoot lol.

It seems like the guests genuinely had fun today, makes the day all the much better.

The dealers stalls had quite a few good bargains today too.

Attendance seemed to be up massively on last year so was quite congested, but crew kept it moving along.

I think there was an oversight regarding VQ tickets early on, and lack of anticipation of how busy it was going to get.

Once again, a massive shout out to all the organisers and crew - well done, good job, keep up the good work, 3 cheers, and anything else that means you made the day work like magic.

I had a absolutely fantastic day at my first LFCC.

It was such an easy location to reach from the train and will defintely persuade me to return.

The only major disappointment was Peter Facinelli not being there as I could only make saturday. But thankyou to the organisers booth for trading my photoshoot ticket for autograph vouchers so easily :)

However, meeting Jewel and Keeley certainly made up for this. They were the two most wonderful people I have ever met at an event so far :)

Although they had no posed photos they made up for it with plently of smiles, eye contact and a good couple of minutes each talking to me.

Keeley was absolutely adorable and when I asked her about whether she was enjoying her first event and if she would come back, she said I would love to although I doubt there would be anyone left who wanted to meet me. She said she was genuinely excited to be filming season 3 of Ashes to Ashes but she wouldnt tell us what will happen ;P She also wished me and my friend 'a great day' as we were leaving.

Jewel was such a sweetie, she said that she was enjoying her time here and she shook my hand :D

My friend who attended with me is a big fan of manga and I managed to persuade her to meet Vic, who was so lovely. He was a pleasure to meet and so comfortable around his fans. My friend said he was so lovely that she would defintely meet him again.

Also JCB was very nice today and even talked to some of the fans who were waiting in queues :)

Overall I would just like to say a big thankyou to SM for running such a smooth show, and I hope that you will be able to bring back Keeley (with Philip Glenister as she mentioned that she knew he had been to CollectormaniaMK and she thought that they could do a show together next time) and Jewel as well as Peter so that I can finally meet him.

I also had a fantastic day.

Started well with someone trying to sprint in past myself and then Too Tall at which point said person almost went over as Too Tall shouted "no running." Rookie mistake. It gets funnier every year.

Got loads of comic books signed and plenty of autos. All guests were very friendly and very talkative.

Tom Baker and Mark Ryan were expecially funny and very popular.

I also managed to get a sketch or 2 and pick up a few bargains.

Thank you very much another successful show and bring on next years event....
