Psychosis
I had a great time this weekend, REALLY enjoyed it - more than E1, actually. First of all, thanks to Jason and Mark and co for organising it so well. The extras were fantastic (the guest encounters etc) and the schedule, although gapping in places, worked really well. We had a hotel room from Friday to Monday so it wasn't a problem for us - we got to nip back upstairs and Wash (Freudian slip) watch Dollhouse between activities. The guests were FANTASTIC, so thank you to them too! They were all warm, friendly and engaging and each had their own lovely characteristics. I thought Ntare seemed a little shy at first but came out of his shell maybe because he realised that it was going to be a good weekend (?) and by the end of the group talk this afternoon he and Greg had me roaring! And Ashley was always so warm and friendly too with a lot of interesting things to say. All three of them were sharp and witty. Hmmm, and my photoshoot was awesome. I was in my costume all weekend so it was kinda funny to have people (including Greg) asking me for photos. Felt like I was on the wrong side of the table, haha. So, anyway, I had a great time regardless of the low number of guests. It really did feel cosy and "intimate". All of the attendees were lovely too. The only problem I had was an inconsiderate parent who seemed to find it funny when her child was wailing all of the time and waited half an hour or more each time before taking her out. Thank you everyone!
paul
I too had a fantastic time! Loved the guests and met a few new people, which is always good! It just feels so horrible that we're not going to be having anymore Heroes cons. The end is pretty depressing!

Ra Ra Rhade
I just posted words to this effect on another thread, but I'm going to put it here 'cos it was so damn distressing: Well, I had a horrible time. I didn't come on the forum that much beforehand and so knew nothing about the free guest encounters or photo shoot (I was just checking guest updates, figuring I'd get any relevant info at the event itself). When I found out about the shoot (this morning while queuing for autographs. I only just found out about the free guest encounters a few minutes ago), I asked a steward about it and she seemed angry I was asking - like maybe I was just lying so I could get more free stuff. Of course this sent my right over the edge after spending the weekend completely alone, and I promptly hid in my hotel room to weep. Good times. The guests seemed like good people - it would have been nice to have had the chance for a bit of a chat.
Haunted
I, too, loved it. I enjoy these intimate cons a lot more than the big ones and it's a shame that it doesn't pay off to run them like this LOL The guests were AMAZING. They were a really great bunch to get to know and super approachable for a little chat or something. I felt really comfortable with them and I hope they did the same with us. The gameshow was brilliant and at the last talk they had me in stitches. I was really sad after walking out of that hall when Jason talked about it being the last one. It felt really awkward, because these events were so amazing and I just love the whole cast of Heroes and not being able to meet them in this way again sucks, but I get why you're doing it. So yeah, thanks to everyone, organisers, crew, other attendees and guests. I think we made this last con one to remember and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at one of the other events. The group shoot and guest encounters were on the timetable in the information pack, complete with the exact timing and your group numbers. The convention booklet also had "free group photoshoot" on the back with the autograph vouchers. Perhaps the steward wasn't angry, but rather confused that you hadn't seen it. If she was indeed rude that was really wrong and it sucks that you had that experience. I'm sorry you spent your time alone, that's awful. I had a horrible time at a convention before. Everyone (the attendees) are all really friendly, but it's easy to say that in hindsight - not so easy to just approach someone to spend your weekend with. It's a shame you didn't take your opportunities to chat to the guests You would've enjoyed it.

I agree it would probably have been a bit confusing had I not visited the forum before hand. Usually they do give a lot more infor before the first talk/on the Friday evening on how things will work but they didnt so much this time - guess they assumed everyone there had been before (have to say I didnt see that many new faces that I hadnt seen at 1 and 2!). Some people dont look at the programme either - and usually the vouchers for auto's were separate - not on the back of the programme... Was a good weekend - but I did enjoy Eclipse 2 more. The Casino party was excellent fun then :) No one local (from who we spoke to) seemed to know about the convention which was strange. Id have thought local advertising would have been key to getting more people to go - perhaps people are just blind... Shame there wont be another. This was something I looked forward to for the last 2 years...

Phoenix Will Rise
Never say never for another one may be next year perhaps. I agree, I really do feel that if they could secure a massive guest, such as Zach Quinto, Masi Oka or even Ali Larter, and used their name from the start to push the con, then they would sell a lot more tickets and then be able to get a lot more guests too... I do feel that having the less famous actors announced months before the more A-List actors is what really hurt E3...

But having a mention in one of the sci-fi mags (cant remember the name - not SFX) at the back where they mention upcoming sci fi conventions (never seen massivevents ones mentioned there) would have helped. I know I check it out every month and have discovered other cons by other people that way - including a more local annual one! edit: the mag is scifi now. luvyourlife
I had an amazing time and it was really nice to meet some new people and see some familiar faces too! (One in particular!). It was a great weekend and I am really, really sad that it's the last Heroes event, having loved all 3 of them. Thank you so much to everyone who made it so enjoyable! I really appreciate all of the hard work that went into it. Sunday morning was slow but other than that, it was absolutely perfect - and I understand why it turned out this way. I'm not complaining, because the event was so fun and solid otherwise that it doesn't really matter. Ashley had to be my favourite guest this weekend, she was incredibly sweet and warm. I love her! Greg and Ntare were also great. I look forward to meeting more cast at future SM and ME events. Thanks again! :) Sarah

The guests seemed like good people - it would have been nice to have had the chance for a bit of a chat. I believe the member of crew that you spoke to was myself and I am so sorry if I came across in any way angry, but I can definitely say I wasn't, if anything I was shocked and disappointed that something so important to the attendees such as the group photoshoot had not been thoroughly covered at the opening ceremony (which I sadly missed so didn't know what was or wasn't mentioned) something that at previous events would normally have been covered so that everyone knew of such changes so this exact thing didn't happen. Although it was posted in this section of the forum for everyone to see so that people would know of the changes prior to arriving. There were schedules stuck to the walls outside the main hall which explained there was a photoshoot talong with the guest encounters taking place but having been to these types of shows myself as a fan I understand it can be a little confusing as to what’s going on. I definitely didn't think you were trying to get more free stuff, in fact I was trying to think of a way so that we could try and organise for you to still get your group shot but as there weren't any photo shoots taking place on the Sunday there didn't seem a way to make this happen with the schedule for the rest of the day. I'm sorry you didn't have the experience you were hoping for and I hope it won't put you off from attending other shows like this because these events are all about having fun with other people who share the same interests as you while meeting the actors who play the characters we have all come to love. sheepyie
Me too, had a wonderfull weekend!! It was so relaxing that there was enough time to chat with the guest during the signing and even the photoshoot was without the usual hurry. I spend most of the time with two other guys from Germany but they had only standard tix (I bought silver) so our schedule was sometimes different. But it was so easy to find other fans to chat with and nobody complained about my rusty English *laugh* Thanks for that!!! I'm looking so much forward to the Abrams Inc in August *happy*
Peter
I thoroughly enjoyed the event. The quiz was very good. Very impressed with Ashley's knowledge of her character The guest encounters were good fun, and it was all very friendly. So sad it is the last one. Hopefully HEROES can be part of a multi show convention in the future.
Psychosis
I wonder if the organisers have considered merging convention topics? Such as Heroes + some other event? Some other organisers have had to do that because the convention market was shrinking for them and it has produced some successful events. The Heroes guests have proven to be very popular with those who attend (which is obviously a minority now lol), as they generally are quite personable and entertaining. It would be a shame to not see them in this kind of environment again. Edited May 4, 2009 by Psychosis
Moderators DavidB Posted May 4, 2009 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2009 Yes, they've certainly considered it. I think it depends on how well stuff like Abrams and Hallowhedon go in terms of a con 'mix' though.
natfrog5
The weekend was awesommmeeee! Love all you guys that I've seen at all 3 events and I'm so sad it's over =( Eeek, that I nearly passed out with tiredness when I rolled in at midnight last night! That'll teach us to stay up dancing til 4am!! As Lockdown proved, having few guests and a smaller number of attendees actually makes it more memorable in loadsa different ways. xxxx

Id have thought local advertising would have been key to getting more people to go - perhaps people are just blind... I am a local and I've never seen advertising at all for this event except on the website, thankfully a have been attending showmaster events for years so know all about the events they do. It is a shame that there is a lack of advertising for most of these events, it does seem that these things are only for those in the know.

That'll teach us to stay up dancing til 4am!! ... oh but ing was soo much fun and they ended on the classic finale song from Dirty Dancing of Time of Your Life was so nice of the DJ to do that, he even came over to ask if I meant the Green Day version, bless! awesome weekend and even though it took me 6hours to get home last night, it was well worth and great to see everyone rock on C15, less than 5weeks to go surfy sah xx
Oregon-snowglobe
It was a weekend of awesomeness from start to finish. I'm sorry to hear some people didn't enjoy it and had a rough time because for me, this was by far the best Eclipse (Ok, so Grunny being there had something to do with that). I really hope that Eclipse will return at some point in the future, either on it's own or with another show....I would hate to think that I would never go to a Heroes con again
CPFC1905
for me, this was by far the best Eclipse (Ok, so Grunny being there had something to do with that). Same, ive been waiting for about 3 years to meet Grunny so he made the event even better for me. When i was meeting him for the auto i told him about my friend who was saying hello through twitter to him, so he pulled out his iphone and said lets freak her out and send her a message, he wrote, "Hello to @manuDSC. Simon rocks here in Northampton!!" then was like lets freak her out even more by sending her a pic aswell and he snapped one of us together, so that was awesome!! Unfortunately i couldnt stay for the last day so i missed the closing ceremony and all the talks on the sunday which kind of sucked(not as much as spending 5 1/2 hours standing on a train on the way back due to engineering and it being so busy lol) but overall i had so much fun, Ashley, Grunny and Ntare were awesome! Thanks SM/ME. Jason and everyone :) Major fun times. Cant wait for Abrams and Hallowhedon now Edited May 5, 2009 by CPFC1905
Moderators DavidB Posted May 5, 2009 Moderators Share Posted May 5, 2009 Ah it's quite depressing to think it's all over now. Eclipse 1 was my first proper 'convention' and they've all been really memorable for me. I've met some amazing people through them, and I can only hope that the end of Eclipse doesn't mean I won't see them anymore. Hopefully people get into different things, and will attend different events etc. I know it's hard with everyone living all over the place though. So thank you to everyone - the organisers, guests, and attendees - for making it one of the best weekends I've had. And I really hope one day to catch up on lost sleep .. CosmicAvatar
Oh, I had such a blast this weekend. The guests were terrific; it was brilliant to meet Greg and Ashley at last and Ntare was very quiet and sweet, yet had me in absolute stitches during THAT moment with Greg at the last talk! I cannot believe how accessible the guests were at this one. Not just for the encounters, which were awesome enough, but the way they chatted with the attendees at the bar (I didn't get to speak to them personally during the parties, but it was lovely to see them there, and way Ashley was remembering so many names over the weekend was amazing). Much as it's nice to see lots of guests, the intimacy of the less well-attended cons rock and I am now totally spoiled for future events like this, heh. I also got a chance to talk more with some of the crew this time, which was great. The Sunday evening was also my favourite wind-down party of the lot! Thank you so much to everyone - the organizers, the guests, the people with whom I got to hang out - I had such a great time and I do hope some kind of con incorporating more Heroes guests will be a possibility in future.
