loopylola
I didn' take any photos at all this time round, but did notice that at the parties there was an official looking photographer taking loads of the party dances etc.... Is it possible to view these with a possibility of purchasing some as i would love to have some photo's to look back at in the future? blaid drwg
What is the deal with showmasters? Do they make the photos avalible to the public either though payment or something? otherwise I dont understand the point of showmasters just having the pictures and no one seeing them. Why's that when his photo's from The Hub 1 are on his website. Mine are here, I've stuck them all up, good and bad. There's rather a nice excess of Rippy! http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o254/to.../The%20Hub%202/ Edited March 17, 2009 by goddessmaat
vamperstein
Not sure what's happening with the photo's this time, but I do recall it being mentioned that Giles wouldn't be putting them up on his site like he has in the past... perhaps SM are going to organise their own site or something. vamperstein
Is there any way to take the apostrophe out of this forum topic name? Pretty sure you can't change topic names, but anyway why would you want to? It is grammatically correct as it stands.

Pretty sure you can't change topic names, but anyway why would you want to? It is grammatically correct as it stands. Apostrophes aren't used for common plurals... Greengrocers' apostrophes Apostrophes used incorrectly to form plurals are known as greengrocers' apostrophes (or grocers' apostrophes, or sometimes humorously greengrocers apostrophe's). The practice comes from the identical sound of the plural and possessive forms of most English nouns. It is often considered a form of hypercorrection coming from a widespread ignorance of the proper use of the apostrophe or of punctuation in general. Lynne Truss, author of Eats, Shoots & Leaves, points out that before the 19th century, it was standard orthography to use the apostrophe to form a plural of a foreign-sounding word that ended in a vowel (e.g., banana's, folio's, logo's, quarto's, pasta's, ouzo's) to clarify pronunciation. Truss says this usage is no longer considered proper in formal writing. The same would apply to Photos.

Ironically, there's posters in my school with BANANA'S written on them about 5 times so I have to go around tip-exing them out.

Not to get into a semantic argument, but while everything you've said is right the apostrophe in photo's is there because you're actually abbreviating the word photographs not because it's a plural. In this case the apostrophe shows that there's missing letters - the same use as when you abbreviate "you are" to "you're" if you see what I mean

For one thing, the word 'photo' is now recognised as a word, rather than just an abbreviation. Here's one link of many (and the most useful one I could find in a quick look) on the plural of 'photo' (it's under 'Irregular Plural Nouns - List Three'): http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwesl/egw/crump.htm Also, here's another link on forming plurals of abbreviations: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=499296 I'll try very hard to shut up, now, and retreat into Torchwood fandom and looking forward to Hub 3.
