Psychosis Posted February 20, 2009 Share Posted February 20, 2009 I'm here now, happy that it's started The guests look like they're going to be great, I'm sure we'll have a great weekend. I'm kind of upset with the hotel though (no criticism of showmasters). First they put me and my friend (we booked for 2) in a single room so my friend is sleeping on the FLOOR Our toilet was full of brown liquid that was moving and overflowing, WTF? I don't think they cleaned the bathrooms because my friend had an equally disgusting problem. And our bathroom light didn't work. The decor also makes Northampton look like a 5* Hilton Oh, one small thing to Showmasters... you're probably already aware of this but the staging is actually lower than it was at the first Eclipse. I literally couldn't even see you guys when you were standing up. I only have myself to blame for buying a lowly standard, though And the screens mostly do their job so it could be much worse! Anyway, that's me done moaning. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning and Sunday (will be gone most of tomorrow). I decided to attend the Sat party for once! And one receptionist offered a bed but the other one said they don't have any. They're going to try to change our rooms tomorrow but I'm really NOT happy. If I could get my money back I would not hesitate. I literally cried this morning. It took 40 minutes to get water clean enough to wash my hair. I am filled with dread at the thought of going back to that hole. I once reported a crappy blackpool hotel to watchdog and it got covered. It was nicer than this!!!!! You should definitely ask for a refund of the hotel ! And if they don't agree, talk to Jason or one of the Showmasters staff. This is certainly not acceptable whatever the price you pay for the room. You definately need to take either Jason/Mark upstairs and show them what you have had to put up with and ask them to talk to management. If you paid the con rate for 2 people then you deserve same quality, and ok , there are always a few rooms not up to scratch , but yours seems way too bad . Thw bath has brown moldy stuff round the taps and it is really nasty. Today when the room was cleaned they didnt change the cups. The plug in the wall isnt safe as its wobbly and the decore leaves a lot to be desired. Would complain but they have put extra beds in our room so my daughters could come with me. To make any claim for compensation later, you do need to complain whilst you are there, take pics as evidence, show it to the staff of the hotel, they need to explain what they are going to do or doing to solve the problem of the sewage. they may have someone working on the problem, it maybe the system is malfunction overloaded and needs time to get back to normal. Psychosis Posted February 21, 2009 Author Share Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) So I had to go to Birmingham and on the way back they cancelled my trains and I was going to have a 3 hour extension to my journey :eek :I ended up getting a taxi here from Northampton... but anyway. We got back and they DID give us an extra bed, which is a start, although it doesn't help with the rotting bathroom. I'm fairly sure there was something MOVING in the rotten wooden siding board. Cannot WAIT to get out. I don't know what star it CLAIMS to be but on tripadvisor.com it's rated 2 star and is rated #12 out of 13 hotels in Bedford... I'm really tired after the trip so in the morning after breakfast I'm going to do down and wait for them to find me a manager before I check out. On the bright side... the 'meditteranean buffet tea was GORGEOUS! I really enjoyed it! Showmasters/Massive Events, did you have a choice about staying here or was this your ONLY option after Northampton? If you had a choice, did you visit the hotel before picking it? Either that, or they fooled you and showed you some of the nicer rooms, if there are any. Incidentally, I overheard JCB at reception shouting (well, speaking loudly lol) about Alexis checking out this morning and going elsewhere I think... So sorry to hear you've had problems :-( You must be really disappointed. Your friend sleeping on the floor is disgraceful, seriously. I used to work in a hotel and that scenario wouldn't even be the last resort. They should have offered you a twin on double room, and if they were fully booked, they should have offered to book the nearest hotel to them AND pay any price difference. I really am shocked at that. Its worrying to me as obviously the red darwf con is being held there in June. I booked my room by phone too so I'm going to call tomorrow and insist on some booking confirmation in writing. I think that there were about ten of us who stayed there at the end of last August, on a variety of floors and in the annex, and all of us were quite happy with the hotel (and several of us are used to generally higher-rated hotels on business); don't know whether we were lucky or you've been unlucky, but you have my commiserations... Christoff's room is just as bad for various reasons and enty posted a bad experience too. Did you stay in Bedford? The other Park Inns I've been to were nowhere near like this. Then again half of the problem is Housekeeping (although there's no WAY that much grime has built up since August) and that could have deteriorated rapidly since last autumn.
