A year ago almost to the day I found it really hard to talk to anyone I didn't know (and actually had a phobia of using the phone which didn't help when I needed tech support for my computer...). The first CMG was my first con experience, which I loved. I found it easy to talk to people with the same interests as me and not feel really geeky for going to a convention! Since then I've been to 3 others, and am hoping to go to another 2 this year, and my friends from those will tell you they can't shut me up now. I'll be staying at the CCross Premier rip off tower at the bottom of Sauchiehall Street. So might be a touch tricky to get in and away from at that time of night.
