My Saturday at CM12

Apart from lots of confusion over the queues upon arrivial (Michael Shanks had about three different lines formed around him and nobody knew where the ends of most queues were...getting the VTs was a bit stressful), I had a really lovely Saturday at CM12.

Helen Slater: What a lovely woman! After reading a lot of positive comments about her from people who'd met her at Cons in the US, I was hoping my own meeting would go well. It couldn't have been better. She was relaxed, chatty, genuinely interested and one of the warmest celebrities I've met. She loved it that I was a life long Supergirl fan and when I asked about her CDs, she said she'd been nervous about bringing them through customs but said some of the tracks could be bought from iTunes. Somehow we talked a bit about accents and had a bit of a giggle about that, and she was more than happy to pose for a picture at the table with me. I can safely say my inner 5-year-old will be over the moon for a long time to come! :)

Jewel Staite: Much busier than I'd been expecting even for a Saturday, but Firefly guests are always very popular so not really a surprise. There was still time for a tiny chat; I asked her about the ballgown dress Kaylee wore in Shindig and she said it was very uncomfortable! She was pleased when I said Kaylee was my favourite and wrote "Stay Shiny" on the autograph, just like Nathan Fillion did at last years LFCC. Despite the rush, thought Jewel was friendly and chilled and it was nice to meet her. She's so pretty as well...has a really nice natural beauty about her. There weren't any posed photos as her line was a bit chaotic but I still left satisfied.

Adrienne Barbeau: I think I was one of the few who went to Adirenne because I was a fan of her voice work as Catwoman in Batman: The Animated Series, rather than any of her movies or other TV-series. She was really nice, I think quite surprised when I wanted to talk about BTAS and she offered some interesting info about how the voice over sessions worked for that show. I think I was also one of the youngest people meeting her, or at least I was when I was there. She was very classy, and looks pretty amazing too. My photo with her came out really nice too.

George Takei: What is it about the Heroes cast being so adorable? George was fantastic. Very warm and friendly, really looked like he was enjoying the con experience. I told him how much I love Heroes and he was obviously very proud to be invovled with the show. Confessed that it was the first time I'd heard him speak in English because I've only heard him talk in Heroes in Japanese, which amused him. Said I was so addicted I was getting friends in the US to send me the most recent episodes so I wouldn't have to wait and I think he liked that. Got a photo with him at the table, where he held up the autograph picture as he posed for me which was a nice touch (I didn't realise he'd done that until I checked the photo later). Lovely, funny man who appeared to have time for everyone however busy his line was. Model guest.

Trudie Goodwin: Decided I had to meet her, since I'd grown up with the Bill. She was great, really thrilled when I told her how I was born in 1983 and so had just grown up with the show. She said I was a "Bill baby", LOL! Spoke about how nice it is to have a programme that's always been there, and I said about how I'd wanted to be a police officer when I was younger and that watching the Bill had probably influenced that. Said I was sorry to see her go from the programme but we agreed life goes on, and it sounds like she's going to enjoy a nice rest before taking any other projects for a while. Really nice lady, I'm glad I met her, especially as she was in the original "Woodentops" pilot too. Got a photo and almost didn't want to leave...I think she would have chatted for ages if time had allowed.

I was finished by 11:30am and really glad about that. I expect it was even busier by the afternoon.

I'll try and get my photos online within the next couple of days. :)
