Trains on Friday

For anyone planning to travel to MK by train on Friday please be aware that in the papers today are announcements that Silverlink are planning to strike (on Friday only). Whilst I don't think this will affect Virgin Trains it might mean that if you are going home on Friday, there are less trains available.

Oh, good god! I am so sick of everyone in this country striking for every little thing.

 

Thank GOD that I'm now going on the Saturday. Otherwise I'd be absolutely furious about this. Still am, really.

On the subject of rail woes, I remember making a very lengthy journey to CM4 in 2003. A section of track was closed for repair and there were no trains at all from Euston to Milton Keynes. Instead, I sat on a rail-replacement coach for three hours while it wound its way around as many country lanes as possible.

 

This Friday, I'm putting my faith in Virgin. They have nicer trains anyway.

The Silverlink trains are so grotty. I only use them because they're cheaper, but they are pretty horrible to travel on. They're always full of litter and tend to smell a bit musty. Yuck.

Yep there are zero Silverlink trains running. This means I have to wait until 19.40 for the first Virgin train to MK. At least it's only about 30mins journey time but boy is it going to be crowded!

I had to get on something like that coming away from a CM maybe this time last year. It was p***ing down outside and the bus was packed out with Spurs and West Ham fans, it took forever to get home and I ended up having to get off the bus at some god fore saken station in the middle of nowhere because I was getting car sick!
