The problem with wolsey hall is it limits the number of guests to 6-8 as you can't fit any more accross the back of the hall, and its not wide enough to have them down the sides like they do at empire day.

the sports hall is totally inadequate for anything else, like the question and answer sessions,or dedicated fan based attractions like...err... stuff!
at least at the wolsey (sp?) hall there was the opportunity to have a film room and... other stuff...
sigh... but i guess it's all about what you want to provide people with... and what people actually want.
i'm sure the sig hunters are good and happy.
cos they come and get thier sigs and then slope off by lunchtime...
leaving a fairly empty hall...
all empty and echoey...

At the last Empire Day there were about 15 or so guests so I would assume there are many more to come.

If you like stand-ins don't forget PAUL CAMPBELL... he certainly worked on the ATOC pick-ups and was supposed to be doubling for Samuel L Jackson.
Then of course GAVIN HALE from TPM who is seen in 365 days with Steve Ricard. Convention-guests have their number. Also SANDRINE did some standing in also in the UK for Natalie Portman.

There were times there were only 2 conventions a year... But those are long gone too!
I have to admit we're getting spoiled every time we go to ED and get to meet more and more guests... I'm afraid this one will be limited to only 7, if we're lucky!
When it's not easy to keep finding first time signers, I suggest the following solutions for ur problem:
- why not organise ED only once every 6 months?
- why not invite some rare convention attendees, instead of first timers? (e.g. Paul Brooke, Peter Geddis,...)
- why not try to give every ED edition a different theme? (I think this one could be "Reunion of the Bountyhunters" - invite Jeremy, Allen and Chris: I don't think anyone would mind the fact that they're not first time signers at all)
But who am I to tell...

I AM happy trust me, but the past 2 EDs have had loads of guests and theres others that are possible from the same site, I take it they're unavalable?
Catherine Munroe is indeed a good guest but dont forget most of the previous guests were world premieres also, and as featured in the movies if not more so!
So yes, compared to previous EDs, there are ONLY 7 guests. So far?
Mazzic: I remember those days of Prowse et al charging £10 per auto and and 10 per photo etc, the one who changed all that was Ray Park I believe, now the major cast charge £20-£25 per auto and £10 or so per photo sometimes, For next year's Celebration I will be interested to see who will charge more than £10 per auto, at least the smaller cast members seem happy to pose for photos for free, it has brought the fun back to autograph collecting after the dodgy anctics of Mr Park! I do like Darth Maul though!!

Remember that a lot of these guys are still working in the industry, they do not just sit around waiting for a call for a convention, they have a day job. Many other guests were contacted about doing this show, the ones that you see are the ones who confirmed they could make it, others have work commitments and we will try and get them for a later date. Some of these we already got to other shows, guys like Peter Geddis, George Roubicek, Paul Brooke and Deep Roy, who couldn't make Empire Day.
Jason stated when he started up the Empire Days again that he wanted first time signers only, and that is what he has delivered 3 times this year. Considering the sorry state star wars shows in this country were in before the return of ED, with no dedicated conventions and the same old guests turning up again and again, I think we should all sit back and get some perspective on this.
This weekend we have 7 guests turning up who none of us have ever met. Not only do we get to meet these guys and have them sign our stuff, we will have loads of time to chat to them and hear their stories of what it was like working on our favourite films. To me that's far more important than the autographs.
Another thing to keep in mind is that while Collectormania and LFACC are big, money making shows, ED is a small affair that does well to break even. These shows are run as a labour of love for Jason, but when he has a load of other shows around the same time, and a big corporation (Lucasfilm) making demands every few minutes about Celebration, ED undoubtedly gets pushed to the bottom of the pile.
Lets look forward to a fun weekend at ED and be thankful for another 7 names in our collections. That will bring the total number of new star wars signers from showmasters this year to 40, which I really can't see is anything to complain about at all!
Graham
