Zak had died because of Pilot Error. She shuddered slightly in her seat, Commander Adama next to her, he took her hand giving it a gentle squeeze causing her to wince slightly. It had been pilot error that had killed Zak only the error was hers, she should never have passed him, it was her responsibility, she was the reason he was dead. Holding back the tears was hard but she fought not wanting to lose control, not here, not now in front of all these people. She bit down on her bottom lip drawing blood, trying to blot out the rest of the words. She knew all she needed to know, Zak, her Zak was dead and it was her fault. Adama Bill sat stoically in the inquest his face set like stone. His son was dead. It seemed incredible to him that his boy was dead because of pilot error, his child was dead because of a mistake. He felt the blonde next to him shudder and he grasped her hand in mutual comfort. Looking on at the proceedings he didn’t hear the words instead hearing Lee’s voice at the funeral as he told him it was his fault that Zak was dead, that he, his father had sent him to his death by pushing him into flight school. It wasn’t what he said but how he said it that remained, cold, harsh, unforgiving. He stifled a sigh feeling that the day Zak died he had lost both his sons although Lee had been gone a long time before that. Zak had died of pilot error, could that error have been his? Lee Lee sat at the back his eyes flicking over the people, up front he could see his father and Kara, Zak’s fiancée together, as they had been since the day Zak had died. He watched them almost glad his father had finally met her, Zak had kept her hidden from his family for a long time, before his eyes narrowed remembering why they were there. He looked up at the panel, Pilot Error, Zak Adama died because he had made an error. Shaking his head he knew that although the final one was Zak’s it was one made long before that had killed him. He wondered if there was anything he could have done or said to persuade Zak to follow a different path, follow his own dream not their Father’s but Zak was set on pleasing him. Yes the error was Zak’s but it wasn’t the one that had killed him it was the one he made the day he pulled on his flight suit.
cosmic_llin
Ooh, I like this! It's so sad! I am just starting to get into BSG so I don't know the characters very well or anything, but your characterisation seems great.

Ideally you want to see the miniseries, then season 1 and then season 2 thats showing on Sky One now. The story is a great one. I really enjoyed reading it. I bought the miniseries and Season One on DVD, but I'm saving them to watch until I finish my exams. So hopefully by the time I go to G-Mex I will have at least seen the mini and a few episodes. feralmoggy
You'll really enjoy meeting Katee as well as she's so friendly and quite a giggle. You'll know where she is because she'll be surrounded by my friends with their tongues hanging out.

feralmoggy
Oh yeah I forgot about the feedback. You got across the angst that Kara felt across very well and you've sympathetically shown the true nature of the other characters. You wrote them as they are depicted on the screen which can be quite hard to achieve. Well done.
