Purple Cheese Monkey
Hi all, I'm looking for information about when the punisher became the angel-punisher type thing. all i know is that he was some kind of angel (of vengeance?) and had a strange glowing symbol on his forhead. I recall someone telling me that frank died, went to heaven (?) and was sent back as a younger, stronger, angel-empowered Punisher. I remember seeing him on the cover of some issues of Wolverine. Any help would be great. Also, has anyone played the game on PC/Ps2/Xbox? Thanks...
Stuart
Hi all, I'm looking for information about when the punisher became the angel-punisher type thing. all i know is that he was some kind of angel (of vengeance?) and had a strange glowing symbol on his forhead. I recall someone telling me that frank died, went to heaven (?) and was sent back as a younger, stronger, angel-empowered Punisher. I remember seeing him on the cover of some issues of Wolverine. Any help would be great. You've pretty much got the story right on the nail. The Punisher died at the end of the series written by John Ostrander. He was resurrected by the angel Gadriel (not Gabriel, Gadriel) who sent him back to Earth to face the forces of the demon Olivier, who was posing as a mob boss (allegedly the one who ordered the death of his family, the act which turned Frank Castle inot the Punisher). It was a mini-series written by Chris Golden. Frank returned to Earth complete with a mystic symbol on his forehead and "holy machineguns". He also teamed up with Wolverine in another mini-series. Eventually he finished the job. The angels let him into Heaven to see his family again, then returned him to Earth a normal man - the idea being that this would punish him for his sins, as seeing his family then being separated from them again would be purgatory for him. They misjudged the Punisher; he was perfectly contented to return to Earth to kill criminals again. Full details of the Punisher's history in great detail can be found in either the Marvel Encyclopedia: Marvel Knights, or the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe: Marvel Knights 2005.
