dufresne
I don't normally get nervous with guests, but Mark was in The Shawshank Redemption !! I approached him, unravelling my SR poster and gestured in a way that asked if it was ok. He swigged his water, smiled and nodded in a way more genuine than the most seasoned guest. "Sure, cool" he remarked. His table was quiet, so we chatted for what seemed liek ages about SR and it's long overdue DVD SE. He laughed when I asked if his scenes with Tim Robbins deployed method acting and said he was a method actor, but not to that extent ! I asked him to dedicate the sig with character name, date etc and he was more than obliging, and even suggested a really appropriate movie quote, which he added also. Even for the piccy, he stood up, and we unravelled the poster, holding a corner each. In a world of guests who won't put their character names or allow posed pics, Mr Mark Rolston is my new hero ! "Thank you so much my friend" he said just as genuinely, as he shook my hand and made eye contact. He even called me by name as we parted company. Sometimes the lower profile guests are the best ones. Thank you SMs for allowing me to meat a great actor from one of the best movies ever made ! * Reverts to normal grumpy mode *
nicky
He was cool when I first met him but when I went back the second time the next day, although he was friendly first, he pushed me away so he and his assistant could do some sums on a calculator...to count their takings no doubt... There was no need for that as there was no queue and it was about 4pm on Sunday...and he like the rest of them, knew I was the biggest Aliens fan at the talk. aliens vs predator
I was one of the first to meet him on the saturday, and he was friendly and cool, but later on in the day, i was at a stool browsing and just looking around at what stuff they had when i heard people arguing. I looked to my left and about a metre or less away was mark rolston and this other guy (owner of the stall i think) arguing. These were mark's exact words: "you're a f***ing lier, you owe me money!" the other guy was saying some stuff, i couldn't really hear though, but again mark said "you're a f***ing lier". I don't know what the arguement was about, all i know is that the guy supposedly owed mark some money, and by the sound of it, alot.
nicky
Seriously though, he physically pused you ? No not physically, but he definatley physically turned his back on me... I came to say thanks for talk and bye and he was pleased I won AvP trivia comp but when I tried to talk a bit more (about William Hope aka Gorman, who he spoke to the day before) he said, "Yeah anyway I gotta do do this so..." (or something like that) and then turned his back and faced his assistant to push buttons. His assistant was that American woman with the long black hair tied back with boots on...she kinda said "yeah" when Mark said that to me. I also didn't like the look he gave after he said it either, a kinda rolling of the eyes thing. Rico was great though as he even asked me to unroll the poster I'd won so he could see it. aliens vs predator
Rico was cool, he asked me aload of questions about my t-shirt. And he found it very amusing. He was a really friendly guy and great to talk to, if i had the chance, i'd meet him again.
nicky
Yeah Rico was my fave out of the five...but probably cos I remembered him from a Bounce advert on the TV from 1990...he was suprised and I think a little embarrassed that a fan spotted him in it cos no one had ever mentiond it to him before. We had a good laugh about it.

dufresne
His assistant was that American woman with the long black hair tied back with boots on... Wasn't that Julie Caitlin Brown ? She represents Christopher Judge, and was in Trek herself - she was at C6 if i remember .....

She represents quite a lot of the stars who do the SM conventions. She was the one who told Chris Judge not to do posed photo's to help get through thte queue... which was amusing as there was only two people behind me!!! Oh please, he talked to you for a few minutes, i remember you, I was sat next to him on Sunday. And yeah, it was about 4 and most people had gone home, he was only really still there because he was waiting for his son. He was perfectly nice to you and from what I remember you weren't really saying much. I think his 'assistant' you were talking about was Julie Caitlin Brown, the agent lady. And what they were doing was important to him. Sorry, you just annoyed me a bit there as he was the first person I've been guest assistant to and I don't think I could have been sat next to a nicer bloke. He wasn't rude to you, he was just distracted. And he so did not roll his eyes at you. Just, grrr at you. Have some respect. He's not there to do your bidding. nicky
He so did not roll his eyes at you. Just, grrr at you. That grrrr was to say the least unecessary and only reinforces my post. I was perfectly polite to him as he was to me, yes, until that last bit. And anyway his queue was still open at the time so of course people are still gonna meet him, even if he is adding up his fugures. And I was saying much...I said thanks for the talk, that I'd won the trivia thing, that I'd hoped to meet Willaim Hope and asked somehting else about him before he abruptly shooed me away. I'm not argueing the fact that he was/wasn't a nice guy...just that last bit disappointed me like it would anyone else...trust me, I was talking to him...not you. Rolling his eyes was a figure of speech, hence the use of "a kinda". And he did turn away from me and he did put an end to further banter by saying he was busy. And as for "he's not here to do your bidding", don't sound so patronising...of course I know that. I don't even remember anyone else being there except the assistant, let alone you. Banished_From_Rohan
I don't even remember anyone else being there except the assistant, let alone you. Nicky - read her post again. Jestive was the guest assistant. That means she would most definitely have been there, despite you saying you hadn't seen her. I think this is all a storm in a teacup to be honest, but I'm gonna retreat before someone has a go at me for being too forceful on the door!!!
