Do I take it that it's easy to get a bus from Milton Keynes central railway station to the town centre, and the Midsummer Centre is easy to find? It looks that way, but that Metro Bus web link's not very clear.

Is it far to walk from the station to the centre for the able-bodied?

From what I remember its a 20 min walk to the Centre.

20 minutes is about right.

Just follow all the big signs saying "Shopping".

or if you're feeling lazy you can jump in a cab. There'll be a queue of them outside the station.

When you come out of the train station go to the bus stops on your right...go down to the one on the far end, the buses stopping there go through the city and you want to get off at the theatre district/john lewis. to make sure your on the right bus stop look at the white sign attached to the side of the shelter and it should have the numbers, 1,2,9,23 and 3 and possibly some more. there should be a bus every 15 mins on fridays and saturdays and on sundays every half hour or so. hope this helps.

The park'n'ride works every day , but there are less buses on a Sunday because the buses don't start till later - Friday is a normal day with buses every 20 minute .

From the coach park ( and park'n'ride ) there are 2 buses , catch the one to Westcroft and get off near the MKCentre ( there are 2 stops ) .

On weekdays and Saturday the buses are at 15 , 35 and 55 minutes past the hour , on Sundays , the same times but they don't start till 10.35 .

It costs £1.30 return , or you can get a ticket for £2.00 per car which enables all people in the car to have a return journey , as long as they catch the sames bus TOGETHER both there and back - works out cheaper as long as there are 2 people or more .

I hope that helps people , and I hope everybody has a fantastic time !

Thanks for all the comprehensive info. Think I'll walk to the centre -- but might need to get transport back with all my purchases...

By the way, what the heck is this smiley meant to represent? Owl with a chainsaw?

Am i the only one that totally loses all sense of direction when driving around the centre mk area? I've had to go there today for work, and yet again, got totally lost trying to get back to the M1 to go home, and went a totally different way to get to the m1 than i did coming off it to get to Mk!

it does my brain in!! i always drive, but it seems totally clued up for all public transport, so with a bit of planning everyone should be fine!
the key is to obvious yet subtle, and direct yet vague
