Who is the most famous person you have met, and what were they like?

Recommended Posts

Aside from footballers that I'm sure you're not bothered about, the most famous person I've met is Tony Christie, he was nice and polite, he used to own my wifes nans apartment and was back visiting Sheffield so wanted to visit his old home.

I'm sure most can beat this......

Met at shows or 'in real life'?

At shows, Gillian Anderson, Patrick Stewart and John Hurt (although your average man in the street will have no familiarity with names like those).

Gillian was a class act, very friendly; Stewart was very professional albeit a bit reserved; John Hurt was thoroughly pleasant, had genuine warmth, smiles and manners for all.

In real-life, literally no-one. Walked past Christopher Biggins on the way to work once. My cousin on the otherhand once bumped into Piece Brosnan sofa shopping in Harrods(!) many years back who stopped and signed an autograpgh for him. As a massive Bond fan and Pierce being my favourite Bond, I am seething with jealousy to this day...

Joan Collins March 2012.She did a book signing in Selfridges. She signed anything else people wanted signed she took time with people and after she had signed all the books she posed for photo's with us.I thought she may be very cold but shame on me she could not have been nicer.7 months later Arnie did a book signing and you had no chance of any of those things.

Johnny Depp, I went to Pinewood studios when he was filming Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and he spent about 20 minutes chatting to us, taking pictures, signing etc. It did take 9 attempts on different days before I met him but it was totally worth it and he was amazing :)

I was just posting about footballers as well on another thread and had the chance recently to meet many of my favourite footballers , including Glen Hoddle, Matt Le Tissier, David Ginola and Gianfranco Zola. All players that had exceptional skills and played the beautiful game the way it should be played. That was a real highlight for me. Also love meeting the England 66 legends like Jackie Charlton, Geoff Hurst etc

I met Tiny Lister last year. He was amazing so much fun and got straight into character once he overheard us talking about him. I also went to the talk he did last year at a different con that was unreal. To speak to him and see how humble he was and just so appreciative of his fans. Im pretty sure I stalked him for around 2 hours but being 5ft 2 and stood next to him I felt like a little smurf haha

Clint Eastwood at the World Premier of White Hunter Black Heart in 1990 in an Edinburgh cinema during the International Film Festival. I remember the encounter well - not sure he will though because he spent the duration of the film in the Cinema bar and only returned about 5 minutes from the end. He very kindly signed three photos for me though so it was a happy encounter !

OH has met tons but a lot was because he worked in Chelsea when we lived in London. My mother-in-law did recount a tale to me at the weekend of having met Patrick Troughton in Richmond swimming baths when he was wearing knitted swimming trunks with moth holes in semi-appropriate places.

Met Norman Lovett from Red Dwarf a few years back when he was doing a stand up set in Sheffield. I accidently set off my camera while he was in the middle of a joke he was really nice about it he ended up having a convo with me about the camera while he was still on stage. Was a bit of an embarrassing moment for me but they way he handled it was fantastic especially as I had interrupted him.

Not so much met but I was at Heathrow airport in January waiting to depart for New York, and I walked right past Michelle Dockery literally centimetres away from me. I know she is pretty popular now? I've met endless top names in wrestling, then popular names in entertainment. I suppose it's all personal preference though as to who you think is famous :)

Debbie Reynolds I met while in LA visiting family, she doesn't live far from my aunts house, just down the road really  she was lovely and very beautiful, funny and kind. Carrie Fisher at LFCC was amazing and lovely, very funny too, frank lampard, at Gatwick airport where my mum used to work, he wasn't very chatty but signed my brothers shirt. Oh and the Queen :whistling: at a Buckingham palace garden party :D
