Moderators DavidB Posted May 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted May 27, 2011 To be fair, they're all on The CW, so you can't make comment about 'all the good shows being cancelled' when they've got absolutely no relation to this. Unless you're talking about shows like Hellcats or anything, which I'm guessing you're not.
timelord81r
CW? to be fair yes im making a general comment on US tv as one might with uk tv not making a difference between bbc and itv, which I guess is a little unfair, but still, very annoying, im sure I could find many examples of a specific network cxl a good show only to replace it with crap or a show very very similar in premise. which annoys me, but can I be bothered to look? no not at the moment lol ;-) that aside the last 2 shows sound rubbish (for me anyway) secret circle might get a load of fans who like the film the craft and stuff like that, or horror vamp fans might go for it, got a young teenage, sexy look to it so it might go past 1 season, even if it is bad (looking so far) heart of dixie, id be very surprised if that made it past 1 season on the premise. but you never know, just my thoughts, doubtful I will be watching the last 2 shows ever, ringer, sounds interesting (and no im not a buffy fan so its not cos I love SMG and buffy) though that might help draw fans to it. not sure it will have legs either though, but who knows audiences are fickle creatures,
jael001
a lot of shows I've liked in the last few years have been cancelled before their first season has even finished, one I liked was gone within 5 episodes I think the US networks are far too quick to cancel shows before giving them a proper chance
Moderators DavidB Posted May 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted May 27, 2011 It's a very tricky business. Yes, there's plenty of so-so shows that survive over other decent ones, but unfortunately a lot of the cleverer ones just don't catch on with wider audiences. It takes something pretty special to be both clever and popular.
jael001
and yet somehow CSI:Miami keeps coming back
Moderators DavidB Posted May 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted May 27, 2011 That show's almost a parody of itself now. I'm sure people only tune in to mock David.
timelord81r
I used to love Miami, but I've been a Caruso fan since nypd blue so that helped, but I started to get bored with it, think I got upto series 5, maybe one day I'll get the rest in the sales, still need to catch up on Vegas, I'm only up till just after warrick :-( NY I couldn't get into don't k iw why, still need to finish series 1 but it's been so long I might have to re watch it, I'm a fan of sinise so will deff go back to it at some point
jael001
NY is awesome, it's the only one I'm still excited to watch. Vegas isnt the same without Grissom. As much as I love Laurence Fishburne as an actor, I dont like his character on CSI and I think the show has gone downhill a lot recently.
GoldenGreen
You just start getting in to a show and the networks pull it ! It seems they are often far too keen on playing safe with series like CSI or NCIS and not really giving other shows the chance to run and develop. I think the Cape starts next week on Sy Fy which looks like it should be fun and it has Summer Glau in it as well !
