Moderators DavidB Posted May 22, 2010 Moderators Share Posted May 22, 2010 In 2004, Jack Shephard awoke in the middle of the jungle, and millions watched as a mystery unravelled on an island. Now, in 2010, the journey finally ends. It's time to say goodbye to the passengers of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815. To Damon, Carlton and everyone involved in the show - thank you for your incredible work. And to my fellow viewers - thank you for being a part of something special. Now to re-watch on Blu-ray ... Notes: No pre-airing spoilers. This episode will simulcast across the world. Once it has aired, all discussion is fine. I only ask for two things in the finale: 1) Vincent has to be in it. 2) Benjamin Linus DOES NOT DIE. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Thank you. BACYLON
I only ask for two things in the finale: 1) Vincent has to be in it. 2) Benjamin Linus DOES NOT DIE. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Would love Vincent to be back, been banging on about that for years!! Ben's so going to die (on the island at least) but he will probably take at least one member of the main cast with him before he goes! As for it ending, I'm nervous, got a nasty feeling that it's not going to be as good as we all hope. Yeah, it'll be well made and enjoyable but after such a long ride with so many jaw dropping moments, I hope they have saved something special (and perhaps unexpected) for the finale. Will miss it big time next year when there is no new series but better to go out on a high after a great run than lose the quality and fair play to all the main actors for sticking with it. Fingers crossed for a great ending (and that alarm clock works OK! ) Edited May 22, 2010 by TonytheCylon
C.Parkers-Girl
Im already dissapointed in the ending...im thinking that so whatever they pull out of the bag will amaze me!!! Myself205
I think I will be disspointed as I have quite high hopes of the end, I mean to get answers to the questions... will see but I hope the end would be OK. I agree for Vincent!

EternallyEnchanting_
I've got my alarm set, and a rather large jar of coffee ready to go for 5am. I'm just hoping that Sawyer makes it to the end unscathed, and that Kate bites it, in the most painful way possible.

Well you did say spoilers were fine after airing so - Good Ole Vincent!! Thoughts - was very emotional but a little predictable, left lots of questions which was always going to happen (kind of leaves it open to a movie?). Happy with the ending though and the "chosen one" to look after the island.
C.Parkers-Girl
I think I understood it... was it like in Titanic where people go on and live their lives after the island but return to being younger after they die? so Kate may have been 80 when she died but still look like her islad days in that hall. Would have liked to see CLaire reunited with older Aaron but I did really like the finale...it was a good end. and glad Frank was alive :-D

I tend to think Heaven is a bit like Nexus from Star Trek, you get what you want, but eventually know on some level it's not real and can move on when you want to. I enjoyed it. Everyone we see had peace without their sacrifices being in vain.
dufresne
*puts on series one, episode 1 dvd* Sufficiently satisfying, without spoon-feeding everything. It was never going to be a finale where you went "oooohh !! Riiiiiiiight !" and immediately forgot the show existed. That last scene with dialogue in particular, I know I am going to watch hundreds of times before I understand and appreciate everything. Absolutely loved that everyone was "main cast" in the opening credits, and it was a fascinatingly different way to get "best-of" montages into the episode. I'll not pretend it was perfect - Josh Holloway for example still hasn't mastered delivering "information" as effectively as he delivers sarcasm or (so I'm told) sex appeal, there was still some ropey CGI (around Desmond) and how could they not have included Paolo and Nikki ???? But all being equal, this was the show in it's purest form. There was a brief spell of panic when opting into the American feed seemed to go wrong, and a "Temorary fault" slide came up, but thankfully it was short-lived. All the reunion scenes were brilliant, but Boone's line about "getting her here from Australia" was a bit clunky, and I'd really have loved Penny and Libby to have spoken just one last line. Interesting that Michael, Anna Lucia, Mr Eko etc weren't invited to "the place", but it would have been difficult and expensive to film, while giving little enhancement to the scene - and presumably Walt would need to appear as he did in series one. I'm just thinking out loud to be honest, I'm still taking it all in - but it's still the best (American?) show of the last 30 years.

bunny-summers
I really enjoyed the finale even though a couple of the flashbacks made me cry - Claire and Charlie and Juliet and Sawyer (I always loved them together)! I actually love Rose and Bernard and think they are the only islanders to have lived a fully and happy life before dying on the island some point after everyone else. I loved how Ben was finally recognised as one of the group but he still felt he didn't deserve to be there. The Walt issue was always going to come up and i have a theory (need to watch it all again to see though) as to why he wasn't there. We already know that the people and the island events were real as Christian told Jack so. Therefore it would be safe to assume when Michael and Walt left the island that really happened. I believe that Walt is still alive somewhere in the 'real' world and we have already seen that Michaels spirit is trapped on the island so these would be ok reasons as to why they were not part of the main group ready to move on like everyone else. And at last all the flashes made sense backs - what life they had forwards - what happened when they actually left the island sideways - their dream of what life would have been for them had the plane not crashed leading to the death realisation. jakeblue
Guess I'm the only one who didn't like it. Won't go into why but I thought the whole, their souls are meeting up to go to heaven together was rather lame. Admittedly I don't get it all so maybe someone could explain a couple of things to me. The island happened so Desmond being returned there etc happened right? So how did on island Desmond make a connection to dead Desmond, plus why was dead Eloise trying to stop dead Desmond from getting everyone together? There's more but that's a good place to start Also if you dief on the island then you got no life after right? Jin, Sun, Charlie etc all were dead till their spirits turned up in the dream life flash sideways. If that's true how could they imagine life off the island they were dead
