Is this show still going ahead?

Hallowhedon has been one of my favourite weekends events since it's inception. After a great start, the last few years have seen a decline in the number of guests and the number of attendees. SM/ME just don't seem to put any effort into this event anymore. Despite this, i still absolutely love this weekend.

After attending LFCC the weekend as a gold pass holder, we were given a tote bag with dates of future SM/ME events up to July 2016. Hallowhedon doesn't appear on the bag. Nor does it appear in the programme.

Rumour has it that less than 30 tickets have been sold, and with no new guest announcement since 16 Dec 2014, it's hardly surprising if this is true.

So my question stands. Is this show still going ahead?

Last year there was lull in news around this time of year, probably because LFCC takes so much effort to sort.

But there were still announcements later and the event was smaller than some years but was still great.

I really hope Hallowhedon continues for many years to come, I haven't missed one yet and to be honest more effort, publicity and guests would sell more tickets and help the atmosphere for the weekend.

I must confess that what I heard last weekend made me feel very despondent (and I'm normally REALLY excited about this event, especially as I managed to wangle Gold 002 this time!). If ticket sales really are as bad as the numbers I've been hearing, then I can't see it being worth ME's while to have it go ahead. In that case, I think it best ME puts out of our misery quick or else reassure us that it's still a go ASAP.

If worst comes to worst and this event is cancelled, I would still sign up for a HW8 like a shot in the hope that ME would be able to get some guests that would boost ticket sales a bit earlier next time. Please don't give up, ME! This is my favourite weekend con bar none, and I've been looking forward to meeting the guests announced, but I can understand why a lot of people have been holding back for a "bigger" announcement. It could still be viable next time.

I have always loved this event too but even I am finding it hard to be excited this year, we have heard zilch for over 7 months now and even die fans have not booked on the guests we have and the lack of communication. You cannot sell tickets on this basis . I have always tried to sell this event to friends and fellow fans and have got quite a few to come to this over the years but no fans cannot be expected to part with money months in advance with nothing .After last year the stops should have been out to entice people back which has not happened.

It is a shame if we lose HW I have had so many great times as have many others at this event, its the best time of year for starters and in the beginning it was fantastic, good attendee nos, great guests and the parties were fab but it just seems despite so many comments in recent years the lessons were not learned in terms of communication and pre-organisation.The potential was there for lots of events for many years to come but you need to look after all attendees, we cannot be expected to just show up regardless.

It just feels now as if we are not as important as the people who go to signing events and there is no time for conventions which is a shame as these were done very well, once, it just needs time and care and separate people in charge of both ME and SM so that care is taken for all, if you spread staff too thinly someone always loses and it does feel like its the cons right now. I am hoping for the best with this as it will be a vey heavy heart that I let this one go as I love HW.

That is an interesting point. I don't work for the company so I can't say for certain how viable that is, but maybe separate people for SM and ME could work.

I had a great time at LFCC, but it is not the same as going to an event like HW, nothing is. I love Hallowhedon, I have been to everyone one so far, but if the effort isn't put in to attract names or atleast give updates (guests, hotel prices, party themes, etc) the event will lose out.

Please don't stop Hallowhedons until all options of making the event a success again have been tried.

I'd also like to know if the event is still going ahead. I'm looking to book my travel soon and that's certainly something I won't be able to get refunded if the event is cancelled. Hoping it's still happening, but the lack of hotel code this close to the event isn't exactly encouraging. I've been to every Hallowhedon so far, so I think it's a real shame how the hype has kinda disappeared!

The Whedonverse has unlimited opportunities for a great event. Buffy and Angel had a huge ensemble cast with so many of them happy to appear at conventions. There are many which haven't done an event yet and even more that haven't been to one for years.

Firefly has a big cult following and there are many Dollhouse guests who haven't made an appearance either. Whilst Agents of Shield is hugely popular right now (I have heard some of the cast are expensive) that has potential for many guests too.

If Hallowhedon is allowed to dwindle and disappear I think it will be a real lost opportunity and a waste of such a great event.

I would love to attend this year but at the moment I simply can't buy a ticket. The lack of updates and the current lineup are my main two issues. I'm hoping that we get some updates soon as with LFCC being over they're surely going to focus on all the other upcoming events such as this one. I'm not giving up hope! After attending this year's LFCC, I know that they are capable of pulling off an awesome event!
