Real fans thoughts on this its a new problem that we have to solve

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

After 10 years of building this event together with you the real fans that make it possible for us fans to make it happen a nasty side of the real world has come into our world.

It's something we here are going to look into a lot after this years show is over , and anyone that we see doing this will be stopped from being able to order again , we have see people buying up tickets to hold on to and they try to sell them on Ebay etc for vastly inflated money.

We are going to have to look into this in a very big way , if we had our way we would let people pass on there tickets to others but we try to stop this so as we do not encourage people to buy more than they need and then sell them when they sell out .

This year is the first year we have sold out and just like San-Diego comic con when they first sold out and they had the same issues they had to come up with a plan , so we will be getting our head into this and stop this to make it fair and safe for everyone.

Why safe ? well we have also seen fake tickets now trying to be sold and email order forms without codes and without correct codes were the numbers have been made up.

On the day we now expect there to be touts trying to sell tickets on the door this year for the first time ever , so its a bit sordid and underhand and we will find a way to stop this.

Some of you may think whats the issues with people making money from this ? but when they buy up tickets just to double or more the price it means real fans and supports like you that have been with us every year do not get the chance to buy what you need for your self.

Anyway i wanted to share this with you all and let you all know we are aware of whats going on and that we are coming up with a plan for next year to protect the real fans out there that are apart of our family and make LFCC what it is today.

With the paper tickets its hard to protect against this but with the E tickets we can check who bought them and if they are linked to the person at the show so we will be doing some spot checks here and there to start to show people that we are aware of what is happening and what people are doing.

Next year we will also look to see if we can implement a system where there is a buy back plan of any unwanted tickets , this would take up a lot of time and work when we are at our busiest time just before the show but we will look into it to try to help people that cannot come and people that want to get in but missed the chance.

Anyway i look forward to your thoughts and viues on this below listing from Ebay .

One other thing Ebay are trying to help but that get busy so there time is limited but they are helping as the rules are people cannot re sell LFCC tickets on ebay .

Take care everyone and have a safe trip and see you all very soon.

Jason

Omg that's terrible that people are selling tickets at them prices, I only buy from showmasters shop never from ebay or anywhere else. I do like your idea jason of the buy back plan for unwanted tickets, every year llfc is getting better and better. Keep up the good work jason and team

I noIiced this for last years event, especially for Stan Lee photoshoots and talk events, people asking for crazy money for those tickets.

And i see the same thing happening again for this year, the only way to stop it is to print names and address on those tickets and get staff to ask for ID.

I love ebay and buy /sell all the time but I've never sold stuff I get signed.

This makes me so sad. Its going to take a lot of will power not to have serious words with any ticket touts I see!

Definitive confirmation you have hit the big time though.

Well done Jason and all of Showmasters!!

Yes i can see now we have hit it big and that is an amazing thing but it now brings us new problems that we have never thought about before :-/ we will resolve them , we have a smart team of people here that will thing it all through and create a good system to stop this from happening again.

i do have to say we are very prod of what we have achieved with you all over the last 10 years together its what i love to so and you all allow me to do this with my friends that make it happen together , so thank you everyone for being there over the last 10 years we will not let you down.

not long now

Disgusting. Taking other peoples opportunities to do something they enjoy for a quick buck is appalling.

Hopefully the new E-tickets will make it much less likely for this to happen.

Good work keeping an eye on it!

Not gonna lie, I did consider selling one of my photoshoot tickets, but purely because I'm thinking I may not have enough time to do them all and didn't want one to go to waste. At a push I would even have given it for free or just resold it for the same price, but then I heard about reselling not actually being allowed so I didn't go any further with it. It's astonishing, though, to see people actually trying to resell tickets at such mad prices. I feel bad for the people who actually buy them from these sellers and get immensely ripped off (can you even guarantee they'll actually get the ticket info they need through these people once they pay up? I doubt it) The rules about selling on were made very clear, while inevitable for such a huge event I think it's sad that people feel the need to do this.

wow I wonder if anyone will buy those £99 tickets lol >.> seriously some people

Glad to hear you'll be working to try and stop these people from thinking they can get away with it its ridiculous and also glad to hear you may be implanting some form of resell for those than can no longer go it may help to stop some of the ticket floggers anyway keep up the good work SM :coolthumb:

An easier approach rather than Showmasters having to buy back the tickets may be just to have a place on this forum where posters can buy and sell unwanted tickets amongst themselves at the original price or less.

Think a swap shop or selling any unwanted tickets for us is a great idea. Some theatres say they will try to resell, once all other tickets have sold and this means you hand it into box office and if they resell you get your full money back and if not, then you get the tickets back and nothing further can be done.

Personally I think a great idea would be to have a swap shop/resale stall at the event itself, then any unused tickets etc could be available for anyone who wants one on the day!

As you said, I understand it would be alot of extra work but it would be a great fan pleaser and give hope to people who desperately want tickets for something they missed out on....

we think the only fair way to do this would be an official resale policy startin AFTER a day/event has been completely sold out where people who don't need the tickets for one reason or the other deal with Showmasters directly in getting their money back only after showmasters resells the ticket to a third party (and at face value + validation fee) - perhaps a dedicated email addresse solely dealing with the resale or an automated system on the website that gives the seller/buyer proof that it was done via "legal" ways

Someone posted this on Facebook 'When we issue tickets with Eventbrite at work, if someone wants to cancel, they go to "My tickets", cancel it, the system issues a refund (if it's a paid event) and the number of available tickets goes up by one, which is immediately available for someone else to buy.' maybe look into that too?

At events I've worked at unfortunately not even the police can remove touts as they are usually wise to them having lookouts or not being on the grounds of an event. Sad but true for most events I'm afraid.

This comes with popularity l'm afraid...the demand is bigger then what you can offer, thus prices increase. What to do to stop it?

- Get a bigger venue so amount of tickets increase, thus supply can meet demand again

- Increase the price yourselves, thus limiting demand. Of course real fans who can't affort the tickets anymore will then miss out, so this would not be an idea you want to impliment, you want to sell to real fans after all, right?

- Allow refunds, so real fans who can't go, are less tempted to sell them for profit, but can return them to you so you can sell them for a normal price to other fans again

- Offer less interesting guests, again limiting demand, again not the way you'd want to go again, since we do want to meet all the great guests you can get

- entry with ID only, but this would cause logistic problems as it would take too much time and manpower to check thousands, maybe ten tousands of id's on entry

All not really very strong ways of completely stopping resale for profit, since every idea brings new problems, which is why it's not really stoppable, many big events, like concerts have the same problem and it can't really be stopped, maybe limited, but not stopped :(

Thats incredible!!! Why would people pay those inflated prices and worse still, those "sellers" knowingly flogging something that is A/ against SM policy and B/ fake!

My suggestion would be to have each attendee submit a photo when you purchase an entry ticket, Thus way, you upload a photo of yourself to SM, they print it onto the ticket and email it back to you. This will virtually eliminate fraud.

The only way to stop people getting in with re-sold tickets would be photo ID. Will take longer to process people but the only way to prove that the name on the ticket is who you actually are.

Lots of edits as I've just woke up and was sadden that people want to make money from fans so had to reply still half asleep 😁

Hi

Not sure if you know but tickets are also being resold other sites

http://www.getmein.com

http://www.stubhub.co.uk

I HATE these reseller sites. Yes they can be used for good, but it also allows anyone to become a tout legally from their armchair.

Touts get round photo ID, in that when I went to a a sold out gig recently with this in place (names printed on tickets and photo id required) the touts had IDs and were telling people they would walk in with them and then come back out...

Rant over...congratulations Jason and enjoy the show everyone :)

Where there's a will there's a way. I agree with the idea of names on the tickets and id, or make it a requirement to see the email confirmation. This is my first year at LFCC so not sure what you do on the door, but surely checking id whilst you check bags etc wouldn't slow the process.

Or do what theme parks do have a lead visitor on the email with everyone else in their party listed and either tickets printed at the venue or wristbands, different colours depending on whether tickets are daily, weekenders, gold or diamond passes.

Because of them, I hope that some people who bought a ticket for a friend will not have a problem at the entry...

I bought a ticket (normal) for my girlfriend and a photoshoot, on both, there is my name.

I have a goldpass, so i will enter earlier for VQ tickets, hope it´s not a problem for her, I made a signed paper with my ID for her.

Hate this resserlers too !!!

Well done SM for admitting there seems to be a problem with Tickets being Resold on other sites... I really hate this, My reason's were told until the Topic was Locked.. (GRRR and I was doing so good with the likes lol) Bad MODS :chair:

Anyway like it was said on here, Maybe tickets that need to be Resold could be done via This Forum where anyone who wishes to buy a sold out ticket can. If Person A says I have two Entrance Tickets, then I would send that person my Email address who then contacts me... It should be clear that the Seller sells the ticket at Face value.. Genuine Fans will use this, This will leave SM to go after the Money makers on the other sites..... SM could make it clear that they are not Responsible for any of the selling.

It is a shame it has come to this, This is the danger when you make everything ticket only, Maybe if you sold tickets on the door from 3pm or 4pm leaving late as possible, means many people who just want to get a few Autos will buy on the door and normally the venue starts to get a little bit quieter (except around the A Listers)

SM do a great job, I'm sure this will all be sorted out and the money makers will not be making big profits from us..

It's always a shame when the actions of a few spoil it for the masses. I totally agree that this needs to be stamped out. This is our hobby and needs to be protected for those that play by the rules. As well organised as I think I am I would hate to think I failed to buy a ticket because someone bought up a load. Just some off top of my head ideas - I would be prepared to pay a little more for my entry ticket if that covered the cost of the admin to police this properly - I would suggest a ticket system that has your name on it AND if you are buying multiple tickets then you have to give the name of the people that are attending at the time of the booking so that they are all personalised, this would need to be enforced with ID entry system - not ideal in terms of time to get in and the additional work load for you guys I appreciate. Also I don't know if this also exists but I would recommend that there is a maximum number of tickets that a person can buy. In a bizarre way Jason this issue confirms the success of these events but it is a sad day when we have to have these discussions.... Take whatever actions you need to, you have my support and I believe you will have the support of all genuine fans / attendees.

I feel bad for people who are going to spend ridiculous amounts of money on fake tickets only to show up on the day and not be let in. Something definitely needs to be done about this. The only way of ensuring that your tickets are real and that you're not getting ripped off is by getting them from the official store.
