Hey guys :)

Considering doing my first cosplay in 2017, want to do a cosplay thats decent... Im no DIY expert so anything massively complex is probably going to turn out terrible, also i am aware i have a big build so not going to kid myself that i can pull off captain america or the likes :P

Open to any and all suggestions for cosplays ideas people have :) oh and as the same for all of us im sure.... Preferably something im not going to get heat stroke wearing!

Thanks in advance for any help and advice :)

No seriously, why not try something relatively easy assembly wise for your first one? Indiana Jones would be easy to do.

True i could... But i admit i was looking for something size appropriate :P would feel like a con artist dressing up as Indy!

A ghost.

How many guys dressed up as Captain America have you ever seen that actually have the same physique as Chris Evans? Dress as whoever you feel like paying tribute to - but if you want to avoid a skintight body suit maybe it is best to stay away from superheroes. Indy is a really good choice actually.

Although, as someone who always wants to see more Studio Ghibli inspired Cosplay, may I suggest Totoro?

I welcome all suggestions :P will look into Totoro.

And yh i do get the whole dress how you like thing, think its my own level of self conciousness that holds me back from dressing in a cosplay that doesnt fit my physique :) silly i know as im sure others would be a lot less judgemental than i am of myself :P

I don't usually cosplay at events. But last year I handmade my first costume for a Halloween party at Disneyland in California.

At that time they had a band playing there with the band members having their characters based on characters from the Tim Burton version of "Alice in Wonderland." I really liked that group and decided I'd make one of these costumes my Halloween outfit.

My favorites were Dormouse and Caterpillar. In the end I decided on Caterpillar because Dormouse looked way too complicated - I had always been saying if I'd ever try to sew I'd die from blood poisoning. But with some workarounds and minimal sewing assistance I made it - the outfit's hoodie was a blue pattern on black background. I used blue cloth and painted parts black, was easier than trying to get the right blue color to stand out on black.

Before I go on I should say Caterpillar was the keyboarder of the group.

So I showed up in my outfit at the party and got in line for a picture with Mickey Mouse. Suddenly Mickey was pointing at me and jumping up and down and then started mimicking playing a keyboard. Those were all my doubts being blown away in approximately 20 seconds.
