Hi. I'm Jen, and I want to make a thread for us to just chatter about the con and talk about how we're getting excited. What are you doing to prepare? What are your travel plans?

For me, I am going to start by watching Season 2 & 3 this coming week again, planning my wardrobe and figuring out any silly ideas for photos. Thankfully I JUST got Sherlock: The Network and am powering through that too!

Are you as excited as me to learn about John Watson's past? Because that exibit clinched it for be to hit PURCHASE.

Bought the Platinum ticket a while ago and glad I did as there is so many guests attending that I want to meet that I would of probably missed out if I hadn't but I have now recently found out that I'm able to go both sat and sunday which helps lol

Anyway I'm travelling to a relatives a week before the event and from there we are driving down to the event (love the fact its Excel due to I get to have a sleep in the car well I'd probably be too excited to sleep but still lol) we still haven't booked hotels yet tho

I'm also planning to buy a poster at some point to get signed (just feel rather disappointed at there being no Martin tho would of loved him to of signed it and maybe my lotr/hobbit poster too  ah well cant be helped I guess. Hopefully we will get him at a future event)

I also got a haircut yesterday as I was determined to get it cut before the event as ..well it definitely needed it lol

I'll probably end up watching Sherlock on my laptop just before we get to the venue to get me into the spirit of it all lol although doing this generally gets me more nervous when meeting the guests lol

This will be my first time in going for photoshoots too and seeing as I'm the only 1 on Platinum from those I'm going with I'll be alone which is getting me rather nervous not knowing what to expect and all lol eepp and I'm also looking and thinking of ideas for the photoshoots poses and that lol

Also, I have been meaning to ask the forum if anyone had played Sherlock:The Network as I played it quite a few months back and love it its not a bad little game a bit repetative (puzzle wise) and probably not for those that aren't into the show but I liked it, played it twice now second time I tried to beat it as fast as possible. Does anyone think that they will release another a sequel perhaps? I'd buy it for sure!

Been a big fan of the show for a while now I had no idea about the whole Sherlock Holmes character until I watched it and now I have been watching countless other Sherlock programmes like Elementary and the awesome Jeremy Brett that yup I'm obsessed with it all lol not sure what my cat (who I named Sherlock) thinks tho

I just cant wait for the event its all shaping up to be an awesome few days out cant believe I'll get to meet some of the cast too lol omg I'm getting too excited thinking about it again lol . okay breathe and there now I have just remembered I have some house cleaning to do so...

Hello!

I initially booked a silver ticket, but upgraded to gold.

Over the next few weeks, I will be re watching the series on DVD to get into the spirit of things, and at the con I will be taking my copy of "Sherlock Chronicles" to get signed. I'm hoping to get Andrew, Rupert and Lara's autographs on it, as I have other signatures from.... ahem, another event (hee, hee)!

Won't be cosplaying but will be wearing a "The Game Is On" t shirt on one day and a "Get Sherlock" t shirt on the other. I'll also have a messenger bag with "I am Sherlocked" on it. It'll also have lots of badges on the shoulder strap, including BC & MF in their Victorian costumes.

I will be getting a s many pics as possible of the sets and the John Watson's history displays on the Friday night, as I strongly suspect Saturday will be bedlam.

Does anyone think the BBC will film this con, to put clips on the DVD of the special episode or Season 4?

Initially I was going to buy a gold ticket but now I am crewing both days instead! (Saturday morning and Sunday all day!). I have booked a Benedict photoshoot, Mark Gatiss photoshoot and a ticket to the Benedict talk which I'm hoping is Saturday afternoon!

I also have my deerstalker ready and am rewatching all of the episodes! I just finished Hound of Baskerville last night and scared myself a little bit!!

And in prep for meeting Benedict I am easing myself in gently with a ticket to see Letters Live at the beginning of April. Hopefully seeing him in advance will prevent me from fainting at Sherlocked!

And the weekend before the con I will be visiting North Gower street to get a sandwich from Speedys

I need to stop thinking about it at work now though otherwise I will not get anything done!!!

Went for the Gold Package as have not met any of the guests before and have been a long time fan of Sherlock Holmes generally not just the Moffat and Gattis version.

First got hooked as quite a young kid watching reruns of the old Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce black and white Sherlock Holmes and then read all the books, watched Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy Brett, who I also went to see as Sherlock on stage and right up to Robert Downey Junior and Johnny Lee Miller, and of course not forgetting a certain Mr Cumberbatch.

Aiming to watch the series through again before the Convention if I get the chance.

Might get the official event poster signed that comes in the goodie bag, although have picked up a photo for Rupert Graves to sign already.

Have a real yearning at the moment to buy a pipe as well to use as a prop for the photo shoots !

I've actually just rewatched series 3 this week.

My preparations are going to start this weekend when I'm going to compile a list of what things I want to get signed by each guest so I have a rough idea of what I'm taking and if I need to get any last minute items to properly protect them. Also so I can have a rough idea how much money I need to take out.

I cannot decide what I want to get Benedict to sign though. Grrr.

Tavel wise I'm lucky that I live in Essex and travel into London every day so the train journey is familiar to me - I just need to hop off outside London and get the DLR/Jubilee line. I'm also close enough that I will be going home each night.

I've liked Holmes for a long time although I've never seen any of the Rathbone or Cushing ones, I grew up with Brett. I enjoyed the books and am planning on reading them again at some point, hopefully soon.

Which is why I didn't specify any names, but sorry if I'm tempting people to discuss what we shouldn't be. Won't happen again!

Hi,

I'm Jenn. I'm coming from the US for Sherlocked all by myself (the husband couldn't get the time off work )

I'll be there a few days early, doing Sherlocky things.

I'm getting ready by: finishing up the details for my John Watson cosplay outfits (I'm finally done knitting my new cable jumper. Yay!) re-re-re-re-re-re-re-watching all the Sherlock, and trying to find someone to split the hotel I have for the 2 nights before the con.

I've been a fan of all things John Watson since I first read the stories when I was a kid.

I have the Platinum ticket and am hoping to meet some nice people to hang out and fangirl with, otherwise I'll be the one dressed as John Watson, nursing a drink as I quietly hold up the wall at all the parties and things.

I think the event will have a great atmosphere and I'm really looking forward to meeting fellow fans and a lot of the guests that I've never seen before :)

Likewise! I'm getting really excited about how genuinely fun it's all sounding, and you guys seem cool.

Does anyone think the BBC will film this con, to put clips on the DVD of the special episode or Season 4?

Oh my god. That would be FANTASTIC. I hope this gets used on the DVD. That's be amazing.

Or if they even sell a DVD of the panels to attendees or the like... Something cool to commemorate the event video wise.

You are a badass for doing a John cosplay, especially alone!

I will be guzzling drinks and dragging wallflowers to be social all while probably being mistaken for an American the entire time.

woo!

(Also my Smauglock may need a jawn.) ;)

Alone is what I have. Alone... No. Wait... That's not right.

If your Smauglock needs a Jawn, I have an acorn (sadly no Arkenstone) I could be Johnbo.

Now I'm squeeing a bit over a Bilbo-haired Jawn. *swoon*

@Twiga .... If you're planning on getting a sandwich at Speedy's, leave plenty of time ;) We were there last summer having been to the real Baker Street and the Sherlock Holmes museum in the morning. It took 40 minutes to make 1 chicken salad wrap. And they weren't particularly busy either, there were empty tables, so it can't be blamed on workload.

Anyway, intros.... I'm Tracy, and I will be at Sherlocked with my friend PJ who is flying over from Florida especially for the event. She was over in the UK last summer and we saw Martin in Richard III (and ended up sat next to Steven Moffatt in the audience!) I have a "I am Sherlocked" black tote bag that I picked up at the museum last summer which I'll be using for all the goodies I pick up :)

I think its fair to say we're both pretty excited about seeing Benedict (we're also going to see him in Hamlet in September) but I'm also excited about meeting Andrew Scott, and she's looking forward to Mark Gatiss. I also think it'll be very interesting to hear the various guests talk... Moffatt and Gatiss in particular, and the special effects thing sounds good. The Watson Life before Sherlock exhibit is another thing on our list of "must do" for the weekend.

It's all shaping up to be a great con with a fantastic, fun, atmosphere.

This is a brilliant idea for a thread as there seems to be a few people travelling far and alone, you guys rock to do this as I doubt I would be brave enough to go aboard to a con on my own.

Anyway my name is Rachelle and I shall be attending with my mum (she is a little gutted that Martin isn't going to be there as she loves 'Poor John' but I am sure she will enjoy herself all the same. I have been a fan of Sherlock Holmes since I read the stories years ago and loved Rathbone and Brett before the BBC made Sherlock.

I shall be getting ready by checking over my 'Mind Palace' Jim costume (worn it before, it was so much fun especially having a friend dressed as Irene leading me around by the chain he he) so I am hoping to find a few Sherlocks to get pictures with (and everyone else in costume too) and watching lots and lots of Sherlock.

I am really excited, hoping to bring my Sherlock- Chronicles book to get signed by as many people as possible and got tickets to the talks by Andrew and Andrew and Mark as I am a huge Andrew Scott and Moriarty fan.

The Rathbone ones are very good, when Mark and Steven did their talk at LFACC last year they spoke a lot about them as a big influence on their take on Holmes so I decided to give them a go. Have to say I really enjoyed them, managed to get the whole set from Amazon for only about £15 which I thought was pretty good value.

I'd definitely recommend the Cushing version of Hound of the Baskervilles as well, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is another good one to watch as well.

Tell your mum that she has good taste! I was really hoping for Martin too! I got to meet him at Richard III stage door (twice) but he wasn't doing photos.

Did you buy the photo op with Andrew too?

Hi I got Gold tickets for this after being hugely sceptical but I am so glad I did I absolutely cannot wait for the event now. I am very lucky to have met Benedict once before and he is such a sweetheart and even more beautiful close up but the others I haven't met at all I've seen a few of their panels but not met them, so I'm very excited mostly for Rupert, Andrew and Louise!

I've been doing conventions now since 2002 so certainly a dab hand by now lol it started off with Buffy and Angel to Firefly then to True Blood and most recently Vampire Diaries and the Originals and now Sherlock of course!!

Super excited to meet lots of new people and April cannot come quick enough 😃

I have to admit I threw a bit of a tantrum about Martin, but honestly when I got to mentally listing everything I have to do during this week in London, I immediately got overwhelmed. Now I'm almost thankful that Martin isn't going so I won't be wasting any time fangirling.

I grew up never travelling, so as I get progress through life, I've been a little more adventurous despite the lack of funds. I'm definitely prone to get a little culture shock at some point being by myself.

I'm glad to see you some others coming over from North America!

I've got myself a gold ticket and I'm so excited to immerse myself in all things Sherlock. I first got into Sherlock Holmes whilst watching the Jeremy Brett series on ITV and then reading the canon. I fell in love with the cleverness of the BBC series. :)

I'm especially looking forward to meeting Benedict (of course) and Rupert, Mark and Louise and have my fingers crossed that Steven will be doing photo shoots too but really I'm happy to meet anyone connected with the show. I'm super excited for the talks too, it's really going to be a special weekend.

I'm going alone and this will be my first convention. I also am not cos-playing but am interested to seeing everyone dressed up. I have a couple of ideas for the parties, I bought myself a GET OUT, I NEED TO GO TO MY MIND PALACE t-shirt for the saturday and I'll be wearing a very tame Irene Idler based outfit on the Friday night, hopefully I'll get the courage to chat to people :P

I came from US earlier this year visiting a friend and then I found out about this con so I decided to extend my stay for 2 months. I'm super excited for this event. I wish I could fast forward time to the day of the event.

I'm going alone and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of wonderful people at the con.

I initially got the standard pass which I then upgraded to silver and in addition to that I got photoshoot (with Benedict, Andrew and Lara :D) and I'm especially looking forward to the talks.
