Would it be okay if I...

I was going to bring my AK (airsoft/BB gun) as apart of my Red Line infantry costume from the Metro series. Would that be okay? I've looked at the rules and I don't think there would be a problem, can someone give me a heads-up so I don't disappoint myself?

You've looked at this topic: http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80555 ?

Assuming you follow the guidelines there I'd think you'd be okay. For definite confirmation please contact our cosplay coordinators - their email address is in this topic.

EDIT: Just to be totally clear: a working BB gun would be a "no" like hanoigrillo said. (I only realized after his post mine could be misunderstood.) You'd have to follow the weapons guidelines as outlined in the topic. But for detailed questions you need to contact our cosplay coordinators.

Not a definitive answer, but having worked quite closely with the (excellent) security team on the door at Cardiff a couple of times, I would be astonished if they let a working BB gun in, with or without ammo. They are generally very strict at that venue, probably more than most.
Like QS said, check with the cosplay team, but I would very much plan for an alternative.

Alright, thanks for the help, a question though: Seeming as it's a battery power one and needs a specific type of battery to actually work, what if I took out the battery? The original I idea was to bring it with a no ammo but as you said: "I would be astonished if they let a working BB gun in, with or without ammo." So if I brought it without ammo AND the battery, that would mean that it would be unable to function. It would be both unloaded and non-functioning.

Sorry, but no one will be able to tell if the battery has been taken out or not. It is still an actual weapon. I very much doubt this would help. At the very least the guidelines of the topic I linked will have to be followed like the peace bonding and the orange tip. And that's for realistic looking weapons. You're talking about an actual weapon.

But again, neither hanoigrillo nor me are cosplayers. We are just drawing from our experience. Please contact our cosplay experts, they can definitely confirm.

Sorry, but an airsoft gun is a weapon per my definition - maybe I am misunderstanding here cause I am not a native English speaker. Even if you don't consider it a weapon, an airsoft gun can can fire pellets and hurt people and that's what makes it potentially problematic when cosplaying at a large event.

You never mentioned your gun has the orange tip either, which would have been an important factor for an accurate reply.

This is exactly why you need to talk to our cosplay people please. They know the rules for sure and can confirm. If I am not getting all info (like orange tip yes/no) my reply will not be 100 percent correct.
