Was sent this. Apparently it has been on facebook all week.

"we have been trying to move forward with our next Empire Day , we have not been able to get the sound stage space we had hoped to get , as such we will not be running it at Elstree Studios this year , we are talking to other places of interests to Star Wars fans and we will keep you all up to date as soon as we have news on when and what date it will be this year we will let you all know , we have some cool things planned for this years event to again make the event very different."

Guess I better cancel my days booked off work. Really wish important information is posted here as well, so we all know what's going on.

I do know that Jason very much wanted The God Stage- I mean the George Lucas Stage.

The TWO Greatest Fanboy moments for me was meeting Mr. Spielberg on the 8th of January 2012 and Kermit the Frog on the 13th of June 2012- please don't ask me which was my favourite meeting as it would be too difficult to choose. :)

Would be good to get an official post as I have already booked a hotel - don't want to cancel it just in case; gutted if it is the case.
Twitter @greedo_uk - if only I had something to say !

Definately not happening at Elstree - they are looking into other suitable sites but as far as i'm aware this will not be held the May bank holiday weekend.

Completely agree that they should be posting important information like this in the forum at the same time as on facebook (if not before facebook!!).

I wont be coming to this then.

Don't mean to be all narrow minded and stuff, but the only draw for me going to the original was the fact that we were on hallowed ground - i.e. Elstree Studios itself.

Why dosent showmasters get more space in the LFCC and make a star wars hall with loads of guests and props as well as fantastic photoshoots I have mentioned in the guest suggestion section, that would be awesome even if we had to pay a seperate ticket to it I would as well as LFCC or an all inclusive ticket to both events. I know the reason was having the holy grail sound stage but I would rather has some star wars this year becuase of the 30th of Return of the Jedi than nothing.

I still can't understand why this has not had an official cancellation.
Can someone tell us what is going on and if we can really expect another Empire Day this year.

The Facebook page was the official source for information for the previous event. From what I recall for the most part mods/attendees copied the info on to this forum. As far as I am aware that hasn't changed for this event. So the FB post from Jason quoted above can be taken as official.

It does seem a very strange way to put on and promote an event, under the circumstances.

I mean sure, dozens of events are ran that way, but they don't have successful forums and huge mailing lists to rely upon. To virtually ignore your primary marketplace, let others pass the messages on for you, seems very odd indeed.

Unfortuately this is standard way of doing things by the looks of it. I had booked for "The Games" and the OUAT/Grimm conventions. Both boards were dead, no news, despite lots of requests as to what is happening and the status of the cons and then suddenly cancelled. I was looking at the first Lords of Time con and saw a similar pattern on there as well so didn't even think about buying a ticket. That event did go ahead but that isn't the point. The complete failure of psoting anything and update news on your own forum is a big mistake and wrong IMO.
It's the main reason that I will no longer even consider going to a ME convention. Cancellations happen, guests have to withdraw, that happens and it can't be helped, but promoting and notifying is the responsibility of the person or company that is running the event. Getting that wrong gives a bad impression. Getting that wrong and then cancelling events looks worse. Getting it wrong, cancelling events and blaming lack of ticket sales can be devestating as it makes the person or company look inept. I realise that for this event the reason wasn't owing to ticket sales, but I'm sure you understand the point I am making.
I have met:

Colin Baker, Sarah Sutton, Nicola Bryant, Sophie Aldred, Sylvester McCoy, Nicholas Courtney
Brian Croucher, Gareth Thomas
Michael Sheard, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Sally James, Linda Lusardi, Captain Sensible, Doc Cox, Janet Ellis, Lennie Bennet, Jim Davidson, Russell Hunter, Angus Lennie, Philip Madoc
Leslie Grantham, Anita Dobson,
Rene Auberjonois, Holly Marie Combs
David Taylor, Henry Cooper, Kathy Taylor, Lennie Lawrence
Mickie James, Nick Dinsmore (WWE- Eugene), Drew Garroway (WWE - Drew McIntyre) Britani Knight (WWE - Paige) Rowdy Ricky Knight, Mark Haskins
