  1. Thanks for the detailed explanation Jason, much appreciated and understandable :) will look forward to maybe seeing some of the SPN cast members at signing events instead!
  2. I still keep thinking (or hoping!!) that the fact they haven't said anything yet means possible good news! only because if they knew by now if they were cancelling or postponing, they wouldnt have bothered dragging it out and just come on and told us!
  3. and i completely agree with all that very well put!...i'd like add i'm also jobless at the moment, but like Aratzat said, if you want to really go somewhere - you pick and choose which cons you really want to do and save up - which is currently what i'm having to do, because there is a couple i really want to go to, so i know if i save up - anythings possible
  4. I like both... but with signing events, you dont get the atmosphere, the parties and the gatherings so much as you would at conventions. Plus you might want to go for one specific thing, and tbh more often that not there will be like 20 ppl your not bothered about and one or two you travel all that way for... so the money you spend to get there, pay out hotel and travel - plus both auto and photos of the people u actually want to see, but you get none of the extras you get with a con....i sometimes cant justify the money i spend at a signing, so i personally would sooner a full weekend con devoted entirely to something i love, with all them added extras!
  5. Well they're floating round forum, cause they have made a couple of guest announcements for cons this evening! so an update would be nice i agree!
  6. I think they have fallen off the face of the earth!!!
  7. I'm still living in (fading lol) hope!!! Hoping if they pull it off its Jared, JDM or Misha!! <3 and not postponed cause for selfish reasons i want a weekend away to look forward to haha lol i got nothing till may - need some excitement!
  8. im guessing if it was gonna be cancelled they would of just come on and said by now. So maybe theyre still in the process of signing someone - otherwise no point leaving everyone hanging
  9. To play devil's advocate surely that rule of thumb would apply to any con. Of course you would need a big guest in order to have decent ticket sales or enough to make it work but smaller guests have been announced for cons that have gone ahead without a "big name". Its stands to reason that with any con, a big name is the ultimate goal so dont really see how that is any more of an issue this time around than with any other event. Whether they are relying on a big name or not, if they do indeed have a smaller guest/s secured, the smart thing to do would be to announce them. No, they might not have boosted sales by hundereds & hundreds of pounds but would have certainly seen an improvement on what they currently have. And aren't we always told they can't secure bigger guests without ticket sales?! You can't expect people to part with money without any incentive. Final devils advocate point, if the success of this convention solely rests upon the securing of a big name, then it surely should have been made clear from the offset not 8 weeks before the con itself. These are simply thoughts NOT criticisms as we love attending SM/ME events and am sooooo excited about this con whenever it may happen :) Oh don't get me wrong i completely agree with everything you just said....i just meant that could be whats going on....but if i am right and that is whats going on then i agree with you that they should be announcing smaller guests if they have them. What i said was just a "could be whats going on" situation. i also agree that the bigger guests dont always make the con the most entertaining, its usually the smaller guests. I just thought that maybe if they had really minor guests already contracted then they don't want to go ahead and announce them, then not sell enough tickets and then if they cant get the big guest they have "in the works" and have to postpone or cancel...that their reasoning MIGHT be to avoid disappointing everyone that they wont be meeting the already announced smaller guests. Just a theory lol not saying its right or i would agree with it like! just a general wondering as to whether or not thats what might be going on lol....plus it might be a bit of a push if they pull through a headliner and dont have any other guests already signed up - then they have what...like 7 weeks to complete a guest list, if people will sign up to the con this late on. Thats the only reasons that i think they might already have one or two contracted and not announced them yet - plus the way jason worded this thread sounded that way to me, but thats just me assuming lol
  10. I personally reckon...they have a couple / few very minor guests - but ones they don't think could sell them the 400 + tickets they need to make this event go ahead... and the only way it will is if they also book on this "headliner" who will sell them enough tickets (over the 400+ mark) to enable the event to still go ahead. That would be my thinking anyways...which would explain it...cause even if they only have the headliner, there is no point going ahead with the event with ONE guest - big or not...so they would have cancelled way before now.
  11. I feel if there is a need to hold so many events, maybe spread it out a little...im near liverpool and CM manchester was perfect!! otherwise i spend a fortune travelling to london or milton keynes all the time for events...there is like 2 MK ones a year and there was going to be the two london ones as well. Not to mention most of the cons being in the midlands and then down south - apart from glasgow (which takes just as long if not longer for the likes of myself and people in the northwest to get to) there is no events up north now, no happy medium, if there is a need to run so many a year, a little variety would be nice :)
  12. i don't know, but would be nice to know either way! I'm hoping for a major SPN player IF they have managed to pull off this headliner, and then i could book, but would have to be ASAP...can still get cheap train tickets at the mo!
