Chrimlee
Hi ! Will travel from Sweden to Olympia alone for the first time. And I wonder if anyone have some suggestions for a easy transport to the Olympia from Heathrow ? Or is it only underground and then busses ? I´m afraid to get lost on the way there =) Or is it more easy to take a cab you think ?
Moni88
I'm also flying to Heathrow (from Germany). From there I'll take the Heathrow express to Paddington station and from there maybe a cab or the underground. When do you arrive? Maybe we can travel together and share the costs?

Moni88
Same day but I'll arrive at about 11:30. I already changed my flight cause I want to have all 3 days of the convention. Before I changed my flight I'd have arrived at 7pm

Moni88
But there have to be others from Sweden. In the Euro subforum there might be some fellow peeps from Sweden who also might attend the convention
Moderators etmuse Posted February 1, 2015 Moderators Share Posted February 1, 2015 Depending on how much walking you are happy with, it is only ~1 mile from Earl's Court tube station to the venue (and you can get to Earl's Court directly on the Picadilly line from Heathrow)
Knitty Fred
Here's the Transport for London journey planner website - https://www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/ ETA: Disregard the following as only applies for weekends (see further discussion below for clarity). Personally speaking I'd just go for the Piccadilly line (that's dark blue and the only one that serves Heathrow on the London Underground (discounting Heathrow Express) through to Earls Court. You then need to change on to the District Line (green line) which will involve a flight of stairs at Heathrow and go one stop to Olympia and then the venue is straight outside the station. Moderators etmuse Posted February 1, 2015 Moderators Share Posted February 1, 2015 Knitty Fred - the branch of the district line that goes between Earl's Court and Olympia usually only operates on weekends, which is why I suggested just walking that 1 mile (as otherwise it starts involving either buses or multiple changes - easiest of which is probably district to West Brompton then Overground to Olympia). Knitty Fred
Etmuse - it never used to be as I'd always used it when I've worked a show there Wednesday - Fridays. Hadn't realised it had changed till I've just googled. Edited February 1, 2015 by Knitty Fred
Dannycarroll2007
Use the tube guys, much easier and less chance of getting ripped off in a cab. Might be worth trying to get a Oyster card before you get to the UK. Makes traveling a lot easier.

ST973
I'm travelling from Norway, but I haven't booked a hotel room yet. What would be the best hotel to stay at if I'm coming from Heathrow? I'm thinking about a hotel that is not too expensive and that is easy to get to Olympia from.
Chrimlee
I live at Hotel 65 , it is cheap and 900 meters from The Olympia :)
Katjafin
I would take the piccadilly line to barons court and walk the rest (less than one kilometer) London tube is really easy to use!
Katjafin
If you have a smart phone and google maps installed in it you can just look up the route suggestions with public transport option ticked.
Moderators StuartG2198 Posted July 4, 2015 Moderators Share Posted July 4, 2015 I'm getting into Euston at about 10:30 getting the Victoria line to green park then onto Piccadilly line to get to Earl's Court, I was just going to walk the rest of the way. NOES86
What would people recommend for me to do to get to the venue from Shepherd's Bush on the Sunday? I've seen there is a southern train at around 7.47am to Kensington Olympia. Any ideas how much a taxi would cost?

Looking at TFL web site looks like if you want to get there before the train gets in its going to be a Bus and if you time it right its going to be just one bus and a couple of short walks I'd be there in time for the 7.47 train as I'm looking to get to the venue for 8ish. As I'm going to be with friends though we may share a taxi if it's not too expensive. We're undecided at the moment. Depends on the taxi price. Pod0509
We are coming from Heathrow as we are staying over night the Sat night at the Premier inn Terminal 5 and only doing the Sunday. The best bet is to get the Piccadilly line and get off at Barons court and its a short walk to Olympia. Don't use the Heathrow express. It will cost a lot for something that won't be of any help.
