Does anyone wish that showmasters would bring back collector mania to MK? I for one wish that they would make an announcement pretty soon as I only ever got to go to one collector mania in Milton Keynes and that was last year being that I live in MK too and have done for the last 10 years It would be convenient for me... Anyone else in MK or who lives in MK with me on this

If they do return to MK, it'll be when they find a suitable venue to do so.

At this time, it's pretty clear that things weren't right with the stadium etc.

I doubt they'll ever say it'll NEVER return to MK as it's home.. but until anything is announced, assume it's not happening any time soon.

There are plenty of other events happening at the moment :)

True there are many Comic Cons around, but there is only one Collectormania

I miss the MK event, especially at the MK Centre. Wasn't keen on the stadium. I wish the event would return.

It's been far to big for MK Centre for years but I remember them fondly as well. I loved that if you had nothing to do for a bit you could just pop into the shops rather than having to find a quiet corner and a wall to prop you up whilst you wait as you do now.

I'm of the opinion that, even though I love the MK events, if they can't do them properly then they're better off not doing them at this time.

If it's too big for the shopping centre yet the stadium can't give what they need, then there's very few other options.

You're seriously telling us that Showmasters can't be bothered to build their own suitable venue? They care that little about their customers! Sheesh. :whistling:

On a realistic note I don't know if it would be doable or if Showmasters would consider it worth looking into but there are a lot of festivals that use marquee type systems like the Hay on Wye book festival. They have multiple huge marquees, with constructed stages and seating area's for the talks. Solid but temporary under flooring for the tents and walkways. Food stands, porta loo's. It's a huge event and would probably see similar or greater numbers of people attending it as the FCC /Collectormania events and it works well. You do need enough fields that someone is willing to hire out and additional for parking as well though but it might be a viable alternative.

Come to my homeland Sudan, The Desert is a fantastic place, Warm during the winter. I can get the Tents up, So no need for Big hotel bills. No need for big stages, we place rocks on the ground and the actors can stand inside and talks will be free. It will be nice for you to meet the friendly locals, in the evenings we sing songs around the camp fire and act out the Blazing Saddles Camp fire scene.. Haha can you imagine some of the guests doing that? And don't forget the unlimited Camel Rides..

I loved collectormania!

highlights for me was getting to meet Gillian Anderson, after I ruled out meeting her at LFCC cause of the expense (travel/hotel etc), it still makes me feel warm inside

lowlights was the year I missed Erika Eleniak cause my friend's mum's car wouldn't started and the trip got cancelled, and shes never been back since  . I have to stop now cause the tears are coming...

The fact the manager of the Stadium was asking for a bigger amount of money earlier this year to run the event-just earn enough so u could pay him and use the Venue!! At a different venue some people may think Collectormania is just not the same. And they were doing construction work or something similar to the side part which was used at the 2014 show, if sufficient space can be made maybe Collectormania MK could return in 3-4 years time if Showmasters could use the whole of the Stadium?

I have no details of what happened. I don't even know if this "asking more money" happened for sure. But if a bigger fee for hiring the stadium was really the only issue I'm absolutely sure SM would find a way around that. There's definitely stuff going on that they can't publically share.

Yes-the fee for hiring the stadium is what I meant!

However, I have an idea, if the fee for hiring the Stadium is becoming greater how about holding the Collectormania MK at the Stadium every 2 or 3 years, and centre the theme purely on a big franchise each time, for example if Collectormania Mk was held next year and it has a big Doctor Who theme. It could be one year maybe even a straight big Sports theme? But, 'Big Names' won't b guaranteed for each show as its only happening every other year.

What do u guys think of this idea?

You are looking at the amount of the fee being the only issue, and I have already explained that it is very likely not the only issue.

Milton Keynes is home. If there was any feasible way to do the Event it would be done. Giving up the origins for now was no lighthearted decision.

Personally I couldn't get behind this idea. For people who aren't fans of sports, of certain big franchises (I myself am not remotely into Doctor Who, Star Wars, & quite a number of the 'big' franchises you commonly hear of at events like these), etc, you're looking at several years of not getting to attend.
