London Film & Comic Con 2015 Olympia Grand Hall Fri 17th to Sun 1

Recommended Posts

Olympia is huge, the main hall holds a similar number of people to Earls Court 2 and there are several other large halls attached if they need them, I certainly wouldn't be worried about the size of the venue.

According to their websites...

Earls Court 2 - 17,000m2 with a capacity for 10,750 people.

Olympia Grand Hall - 18,860m2 with a capacity for 11,800 people.

If more people are expected next year, some additional space may be needed...

The post mentions only the Grand at the moment.

I assume SM will try and book any additional available halls if they need to - which they will have to if they are doing for the scale they had this year.

Two years ago at Olympia it was bad enough and over crowded with a smaller guest list as well.

I hope the venue change is a sign that they will be trying to remedy what happened this year. I would really like to go again, just need to be re-assured that everything will be done to prevent the overcrowding issues! I might consider going on the Friday or Sunday since people say they're less nightmarish...

The venue change is due to Earls Court being pulled down so that was always the plan. The longer preview day on the Friday could well be a result of this year though.

I probably won't be attending every year as it is very expensive coming from Scotland. Unless of course, a stellar guest is announced

LFCC summer gets bigger every year, id recommend using more than the ground floor of the grand hall for next years summer LFCC, the Saturday this year was insane.no matter how you package it, saturday was sardines, very uncomfortable, baking hot. with massive queues and some ppl not being able to get in (and that was with the main stage and stan in another part of the building)

as stated above, olympias halls open into one another, so as long as showmasters hold the space early they could hold a massive LFCC in multiple halls there, saying that, they could hold a massive lfcc in multiple halls at earls court too (they half did this year) as EC2 connects directly to EC1 ground. but ppl have to note though that more halls costs more money and theres no guarantee other shows dont already hold the other hall space.

I dont think there need be any concern over LFCC being held at olympia, its a good venue.

i do think SM will need to manage the queues more though, hyper japan was at earlsc ourt last weekend, not as busy as LFCC but they used ec1 ground and had crew outside holding up signs and directing ppl to the various queues all day. they also i think (as i just saw in passing this) were scanning tickets for re entry. they also on the Saturday had two sessions queuing ppl on level 2 above ec1 gound. two sessions for lfcc wont work, but the queuing is what i was getting at.

SM have held events at olympia before.

the future of earls court is uncertain, at present there will be no shows there next year or ever as the owners and the government have agreed to demolish and redevelop the entire area into a rich mans play ground. though its still being fought to try and stop it.

Really pleased that the dates for 2015 have been announced, will be heading into the office soon to try book the weekend off.

Never been to an event at Olympia before so looking forward to seeing it, any one know what the air con system is like hoping that it'll be a bit cooler than EC as that has always been one of my biggest gripes with the show??
