how were your experiences meeting guests?

Recommended Posts

its always nice after LFCC to see what guest(s) seemed to be people's favourites based on how they interacted with punters at signings and shoots, so how were the guests you met?

Kelly Hu- first guest of the weekend for me and an absolute star. she took a little while to show up for some reason but the wait was worth it. seemed so happy to meet people and had a quick chat about the event.

Gemma Whelan- amazing! so happy and bubbly. i noticed she was left handed and we had a discussion about it since im a leftie too. she even dedicated my auto "all the best to my fellow leftie". a bargain for a tenner as well!

Gregg Henry- originally wasnt planning on getting him but on saturday i had a quick chat as i passed, saying i loved him in slither. he seemed to be genuinely stoked by the comment and i ended up going back today to get an auto on the dvd cover. great bloke

Tom Savini- i was worried as i'd heard a few iffy things about him, but they were all wrong. he was straight to the point but not abrupt or rude (if that makes sense) and happily did an over the table photo for my friend and i

Rose Leslie (photoshoot)- i had to go twice since the first pic went wrong but it was too late to redo the pic in the same batch as i noticed it after i had left. went back again for a second pic which came out much better. that woman is a goddess and i am in love with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO nice and THAT voice! good lord her normal speaking voice is amazing *gazes off into space...*

the definite highlights guest-wise for me was Michael Tranyor and Steve Coulter. both seemed so happy to be at the event and were having fun with the people they were meeting. Michael photobombed my friends pic with Steve and they were just excellent. long conversations with Michael were hilarious, especially when i mentioned that with 1 exception there seems to be a trend that every TWD guest who comes to LFCC has been killed off (or will be killed off in the next series).

honorary mention has to go to Alexander Siddig. i didn't get an auto but i did have a quick chat with him when his signing desk was empty. he was such a nice guy.

Keisha castle-hughes- so lovely chatted to her at her desk about almighty johnsons (she liked my looking for frigg tshirt) she came out and stood with us for a photo, met her again for photoshoot and was just as happy.

Garrett wang-very nice man quite chatty and was happy showing us his dr who tshirt, only down side, he had ear plugs in connected to his phone.

nicole de boer- nice lady was happy to talk about haven and dead zone, would let you take a pic of her sitting at her desk but said she was not allowed to do posed.

john ratzenberger- nice man had to remind him he did an episode of hells kitchen, when i said gordon ramsey he remembered and said the food was not all that good.

Sigourney weaver- was a legend in my eyes before i met her and even more after i met her, looks amazing and so nice and lovely.

Christopher lloyd- what a great man he was my first photoshoot and made my day on friday so nice and i just love his voice.

Carrie henn- got to see her after the xenomorph and predator cosplayers, she loved them and told me afterwards that she has just made peace with the xenomorph after all these years.

also saw pete bennett of big brother so called fame running up and down the extremely long queue on saturday morning, why i dont know but i did see him again on level 3 later on just running around.

I met Sean Gunn and Neve Campbell. It was nice that there were Angel and The Craft pictures, I had concerns there wouldn't be.

Both were great guests, really nice. I have nothing bad to say about either of them.

Everyone I met was great, I had a good experience with everyone. I won't mention them all individually, but a few stand outs were:

Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy - both very nice and good to talk to

Jessica Henwick - just really lovely talking to everyone getting an autograph and great at the photoshoot too

Neve Campbell - for me meeting Neve was such a big deal as I've been a fan of her work for more than 15 years, and meeting her was a great experience, she was lovely and friendly and chatty and just brilliant

Hayley Atwell was really nice too - it was a little more rushed as she was so busy but she was really great

Jodi Lynn O'Keefe was really nice and friendly too, and great at the photoshoot too

David Barclay was an absolute star - I am a big fan of Labyrinth so meeting him was fantastic and he had so many interesting things to say about his experiences, and about working with Jim Henson and David Bowie (who are two of my heroes)

As I said, everyone I met was great, but off the top of my head those really stand out

I would like to give a special mention to Erin Cahill, one of the friendliest people I have ever met. While we queued for her shoot on Saturday she came out and walked the line saying hi to everyone. She remembered me on Sunday when I went back for her autograph and was happy to chat away and seemed genuinely appreciative of meeting people. Humble and lovely, superb guest.

Hayley Atwell was slightly rushed, but we managed a quick conversation about the play "The Pride" which moved me immensely when I saw it. She seemed genuinely moved.

Reeve Carney may be the nicest bloke I've ever met. We had a looonnnggg convo about Season 3 of Penny Dreadful, and his musical career. We ended up involving SRB in the convo when we spoke about our love for "King Lear". Remembered me at the photoshoot, and the line he uttered just beforehand is unrepeatable!

Harry Treadaway is such a lovely guy. We managed a relatively long convo, and spoke of PD, beards (I said his works, he disagrees a bit) and my desire to see Caliban punished. Photoshoot was awesome.

Simon Russell Beale was so lovely. Big smiles, handshakes, ended up with an auto inscribed to "Lear's Fool", SM please get the PD cast back!

I did the photoshoot with Sigourney today and I have to say that lady is seriously attractive. I thought she looked great in Alien 35 years ago- she's clearly one of those people that gets even better with age.

Fantastic!

Friday:

Richard Dean Anderson.....really chatty and funny. Love him to bits. I was there right in the beginning after his first photoshoot.

Christopher Lloyd...wonderful, very attentive. Very busy line when I went there so no much time.

Saturday:

Michael Gambon...Wonderful, again I love him to bits. The line was busy so there wasn't time for chatting. But I think he was like I always imagined him to be. He signed my Harry Potter book. :D

Sigourney Weaver...oh gosh, I was totally starstruck. She signed my "Snow Cake" -poster (my favourite movie of all time which I told her) and she was glad that I have seen it because not a lot of people even know about it (which is a shame because Sigourney should have won all of the awards from that role!). Today I had the photoshoot with her and I took a couple of snow flakes with me...she gushed and said "I'm so glad you brought these!" (SQUEEEEE)

Bill Paxton...he was 30 minutes late...but I forgave him because he is precious. I was first in line (wooohoo), he cracked a couple of jokes while signing.

David Bradley...loooved him! I gave him a Filch-keyring that I had made and he was so taken by it...he said he would put it on his keys when he gets home...awwwww. He signed my Harry Potter book..and drew Mrs Norris there too :D

Carrie Henn...lovely person! She was funny...the assistant was a young girl and wasn't able to bunch a hole in the diamond pass...so Carrie took the "scissor"-thingies and voilá made the hole...as she did it she said:"I'm a teacher so I'm basically doing this all the time!" Haha.

Sunday:

James Remar...wonderful! He took a photo with me after the signing :D

Iain Glen...he was really busy when I went to get his photo, but he was nice and very attentive.

I was a bit disappointed after meeting Sex Machine (Savini). He is a legend and i've always wanted to meet him. I wouldn't say he was rude but wasn't looking for conversation. Was a shame but i can't think of much to say myself so meh.

It did make me laugh at his shoot today, he turned up late, i was at the front and the Crew Man asked "is that him?" and rolled his eyes. When i got in Savini was taking a photo with a woman which i assume was crew, then spent ages looking through the photos rather than taking the photos. Made me laugh as the crew was getting irritated but what can you do!

I had a great experience with Tommy Walker from Daredevil about our love of comic books, Ben Affleck as Batman and Daredevil season 2... Such a genuine comic book fan himself and nice to spend some time chatting without feeling rushed.

Sherilyn Fenn, Claudia Wells and James Tolkan were also highlights while Harry Waters Jr & Donald Fullilove seemed over the moon to just be there and were super interactive. James Remar was also very genuine and we had a good chat about him playing two roles in Django Unchained.

Tom Savini and Zack Galligan seemed slightly aloof but I'd heard that about Savini anyway.

As I said in another thread:

James Remar was everything I expected him to be. Super kind and a genuinely nice guy (thankfully as he was the main reason I came this year!). Asked me how I injured my finger at the autograph table in the morning, posed for a photo and still proceeded to talk to me after we were done, then greeted me in the afternoon photoshoot by saying "heyyy, it's the guy missing his fingertip!". Great guy.

Neve Campbell was very sweet and humble, and made sure to chat and hold a conversation further than just a "hey" or "hi".

Also, Erin Cahill seemed to just love being there. Everytime I passed her, she would always be completely engaged in whoever was standing in front of her and smiling and laughing.

Kelly Hu was the first of the guests that I met. A complete sweetheart and gorgeous in person. I loved how she personalised her autograph and she posed lovely in the photoshoot.

Michael Gambon was a complete gent and very nice in the brief time we had in the photoshoot. He did look under pressure and wiped his brow indicating the heat he had to endure.

Carice van Houten was very pleasant in the photoshoot and probably the best photo from my five. My mate got me her signature and said she was fine.

Hayley Attwell was fun and bubbly and would pose if you wanted her too. Unfortunately by the time I got my items signed she was no longer personalising. She did comment that the print I brought to have signed was awesome so that was cool.

Sigourney Weaver. Legend.

I was there on Friday and Harry and Donald were just egging each other. both were enjoying themselves a lot and making sure that everyone in the queue joined in

Hayley Atwell was my highlight. Had a great chat with her Saturday about her dubsmash war with the AoS cast. Her panel was one of the best I've attended and she was great in the photo shoot too.

Also Rose Leslie is the kindest, sweetest most genuine person I have ever met.

Won't go through them all, just my stand outs:

As said in the 'favourite guest' thread, Gregg Henry. Just so wonderful. No one waiting to see him so just got to chat for ages about 24 & The Following on Saturday. Remembered me in his photoshoot today & gave me a big cuddle.

Who knew serial killers could be so nice??!! lol

Sean Gunn. Another that was sitting idly on Saturday so had a lengthy chat about Gilmore Girls & an extra cuddle at his photoshoot an hour or so later.

Bill Paxton. Hands up if you can say you have been tickled by him! I can!!! We even had a brief exchange of 'Hail, Hydra'!

And Hayley Atwell & Rose Leslie. Both so cuddly.

Most of the guests I met were awesome but stand outs are Neve Campbell, Bill Paxton, Darren Lynn Bousman, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, Zach Galligan and Reeve Carney.
It was so awesome to be able to tell Darren Lynn Bousman how much I love Repo and he was such a nice guy

I only did photoshoot which obviously doesn't give you much time to chit chat, but yet Sigourney Weaver and Bill Paxton were awesome, a smile a few nice word, I had a plush face hugger That I brought on the Sigourney Weaver Power Loader shoot she looked and the thing and said, yuk keep that thing away, I've got a great pic (my fav' this year), it was kind of in a rush as with every photoshoot but just felt like you could take your time and enjoy the few seconds....

For Christopher Lloyd he is a great guy, already met him at LFCC years back, while I could ask him to pose, just as on the poster (looking at our watches) it just felt like we were thrown in there, flag goes you go in, you pick your pic you're out, this is not on Mr Lloyd but the crew pushed a little to hard to keep this done as soon as possible, I do think that Christopher has been pushed just a bit, too many different photoshoots , too many tickets sold.... Still happy with this in the final, but could have been better with less tickets available and more time for actually meeting fans... Then again a lot of fans could meet him so... Well it's kind of a good thing to,

The MJ Fox shoot , same thing, I think photoshoots opportunity should have been more limited, I' m very grateful for Michael J. fox to have met so many fans even with his health problem .... I do think a bit less tickets sold would have been better tough.....

Still very happy with the guests and thank you SM for those opportunities can't wait to see what next year's gonna bring us

I guess Hayley was in a bad mood on sunday. She didn't even look up, didn't say hello - my biggest objection through was the woman with her who shoved a pad of paper in front of my phone while i was in the queue taking a picture of my friend up at the desk? it wasn't a posed picture, just trying to get a quick snap of my friend at the table. Wasn't delaying anything. Since when is that not allowed? As Hayley was moving so fast I didn't get a second chance to take a pic.

Most of my guests were photoshoots, so not proper meets but they were all friendly.

My favourite meet has to go to Donald Fullilove as he was the only guest I had a proper chat with on Friday. Got to quote one of my favourite lines from BTTF, "I'm gonna clean up this town!". A genuinely nice all round guy. :)

Bill Paxton i just had a photoshoot with but he was so humble and seemed pleased to be there.

Jason David Frank was so awesome to meet a real highlight.

Richard Dean Anderson I'd been wanting to meet for years and he really made time for everyone.

Rose Lesllie was so sweet and seemed impressed I knew of some of her future projects even spoke about idris Elba who she'd just worked with for the new Luther.

Hayley Atwell was quick but still got a quick chat.

Overal a great weekend.

Nicole de Boer - Nice and chatty, she seemed genuinely disappointed when she said she can't do posed photos due to her contract with Showmasters. She had her daughter with her, who was adorable.

Colin Baker - My little sister wanted to meet him, he was quite chatty and spoke well to my very nervous sister, asking her questions.

Lucy Saxon - I spoke her her for around 20 minutes, extremely friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Also, she was wearing a fantastic Zelda costume.
