Due to us not wishing to leave large areas of seating empty near the front of the talks we will be loading the Main Hall in the following manner…

Approximately 5-10 minutes before each talk attendees will be loaded in the following order:

VIP pass holders

Disabled Attendees – You will be sat (made space for wheelchair) in an area appropriate to your ticket/package type.

Platinum pass holders in Group order.

Gold pass holders in Group order.

Ticket holders in batch order.

If you enter the Main Hall after this initial loading the following will happen:

VIP pass holders – You have reserved seats.

Disabled Attendees – Please talk to the crew.

Platinum pass holders – There will be seats in the Platinum area.

Gold pass holders – There will be a reasonable* number of spare seats left in the Gold section, but if these are full you will simply find a seat at the back.

Ticket holders – Find a seat at the back.

After each talk all attendees (excluding VIPs) must leave and re-enter the main hall. Disabled Attendees we will make exceptions for you if needed, please talk to the crew.

*What does reasonable mean? In a talk like Benedict’s we will leave the full allocation of Gold seats. In the smaller talks we will leave 50-100 spare seats in the Gold section for Gold Pass Holders coming in late.

Every 'package' ticket sold for the event is in a lettered group, depending on the order they were purchased. I'm not sure how many are in each group for this event, but it might be say Platinum pass holders 1 to 50 are group A, or Gold pass holders 150-180 are group F, etc.

Each group will be called to go in and pick a seat in turn, with group A first.

So loading the hall in 'group order' simply means that the people who bought their passes the earliest get first pick of the seats in their area, as they will be in an earlier group.

(Talk tickets bought online by those with basic entry passes are similarly grouped into numbered batches, with batch 1 getting in first and so on)

The package holders have been divided into groups for the photoshoots. I'm in A for example. When it comes time for the talks we will be let in, in the order specified by TooTall above and sub divided by groups.

So it will be VIP's in first, then disabled attendees who will then be seated in their package area. Then the Platinum ticket holders groups, so A, them B ect, and so on, and then the same with Gold and then Silver. Day/weekend ticket holders will enter last in batches, say maybe 1-50, 51 to 100 ect.

It means that everything will really be controlled and you don't have to worry about turning up to queue ages before to get a seat as you will only be allowed in in this order.

Thank you for the information. So, group and number order mean the same thing? Group A (which is me, by the way) goes in first, but in no particular order, is that correct? I am just trying to clarify because my friend is in group B and we'd like to sit together if possible.

Yes that is correct. I used number rather than group as FAQ on the website used that phrasing, but it's just a different term they used when the website was set up.

I don't know if you would be able to save a seat for your friend as you are in first. If someone in the A batch wants to sit in the seat next to you they would have priority. You could presumably go in with the B's and sit together but she wouldn't be able to enter with the A's.

Having said that you might be lucky and the seat next to you wouldn't be taken but it's not something you can predict. If you want to guarantee to sit together you might have to hold back and go in with your friend.

This is really good to know. I can relax now knowing that if I do have a clash with a talk and photo shoot that I can be rushed through the shoot safe in the knowledge that I'll be able to take a seat in the 'platinum' area and not have to sit right at the back.

I've a few friends asking how many people will be in each 'group'. I think there is some concern that a group of say 200 people in group D will be let in the talks all at once and it'll be mayhem. Some of them have young children and are concerned for their safety. Is there anyway of finding this out?

It's not 200 as far as I know. And it will still be a line, not "everybody trying to get to Mickey Mouse at once" Disneyland Paris type of scrum.

Thanks QS.

One more quick question.

The groups, It's my understanding that Group A and B are Platinum, Group C and D are Gold. Is that right? There are no Gold A and B?, talking to some people they were under the impression that there were Gold A B C and D, E etc.

Thanks so much in advance.
