I had a couple signed recently and I love signed books. One was with a black sharpie on normal book paper pages (the ink might absorb into the page fibres a bit if the nib was on there too long) but I think looked nice and the other was with a bronze sharpie on the shinier type pages.

I've had quite a few autos in books, at signings & stage doors, without problems. I would say that if it's being signed with a metallic Sharpie, give it time to dry before you close the book. Also as said above, watch out for the Sharpie bleeding through to the other side of the page in paperbacks. For those you're better off using a biro.

I want to get the pages with their images on signed. Its one of those dk guides. Think sharpie will bleed through?

Should be fine, my son has got a couple of DK books that he gets signed and we've never had a problem. As Magpie Electricals says further up in the thread just don't close the book too quick as they can still smudge even with a sharpie.
