Hello there,

Is it possible to start concerts after the London Film and Comic Con on saturday 30 July. WE have so much exzellent Soundtrack musicans like John Williams, John Carpenter, Claudio Simoettis Goblin, Ennio Morricone and Grace Jones will be very hot. They can write autographs and give photoshoots and after 6 o clock in the evening and the doors will be clothing, you can give a little festival. What Do you think about it????

After a long day at the event then a concert or festival is the last thing this old man can handle. Back in the days of weekend residential conventions we had discos, but that is about it as the numbers were far far less and the day nowhere near as stressful

Also getting people of those caliber would, I imagine, cost an absolute fortune if you asked them to perform as well. Your talking more like Diamond guest + prices if you wanted to put on a concert instead. I seriously doubt it's financially feasable - to cover costs (performer fee, equipment, staff, security, licenses, insurance, ect) you'd either have to sell hundreds and hundred of tickets at a reasonable price or less at a lot higher price. Also you've got issues with clearing down the venue at the end of each signing day so that you've got room to hold a concert - these events don't exactly have loads of free pace being paid for but not being used during the day. It would be a logistical nightmare to set it up. You'd have to turf all the attendees, guests and stall holders out early so that you could clear the space which would involve loads of work for showmasters as they would have to set up again after for the next day.

Seriously doubt they would consider this.

I have to agree with the comments above I just don't think it's logistically feesable and can't see this happening. There are occasionally parties after a show and these seem to work generally well but I can't see anything more than these happening in the future.

Awww a post-con disco would be the best ever! Clear away all the tables and stalls at the end of the day, hang up a big disco ball and get some classic tunes on! Why just get autographs and photo-ops with guests when you could do the Macarena with them as well!

Might end up like the school discos I used to go to though, where my mum would iron me a nice shirt and I'd borrow my dad's aftershave only to then sit on a chair at the side of the hall and watch everyone else dance instead........*sniff*

There is a forum meet up at the Crown and Sceptre, just around the corner from the Olympia on the 30th. Members of the forum can meet up, get to know each other IRL, and I run a geeky pub quiz as part of the evening. It went pretty well last year, which is why we are doing it again.

Not the same as a concert, but it gives people a chance to socialise post-con

Personally, I was absolutely shattered after the Con last year lol Was there all days, and it all started with a very early flight on the Friday morning - so all I wanted was a shower and to lay in bed in my air-conditioned hotel room at the end of each day. Doing it all again this year - so obviously it was worth it lol

I mean the musicans of filmmusic like Ennio Morricone, John Carpenter, Goblin, John Williams and others. These musicans are interesting for us after the convention, like Saturday.

So you mean bringing in a full orchestra for film composers to conduct?! The organisation of this would nearly match having to organise the entire con in itself! It's just not going to happen.

It's a really cool idea but just doesn't really work for the way that LFCC is set up--you'd need a separate venue, a concert hall (because tables/stands etc. stay in the hall overnight)--and also getting those kind of large names would cost a LOT of money. The overlap of people interested in picking up a couple of autographs and interested in paying hundreds of pounds to see a full orchestra isn't worth the insane costs.

But people do organise lots of post-con parties and pub trips, so that's something! If you're staying in a hotel, maybe check out if something is happening in your hotel?
