nicky
A while ago Chris Cornell was announced as the one to do the song for the new Bond movie. This is a peculier choice not that Cornell is a bad singer (he has IMO one of the greatest rock voices) but rather cos of the genre of music he belongs to. Back in their day Soundgarden were one of the staples in 90s Seattle grunge along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Mudhoney etc. with some great rock tunes. Audioslave are now one of today's leading super-groups being made up of Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine members. Consisting of the great great combination of Cornell as the frontman along with Tom Morello's fascinating guitar work.

Count Fooku
I heard the other day there are no plans to release the song on its own? Anyone else heard that or for that matter heard the song yet?
nicky
Heard it twice and I like it. Very differnt from other Bond films and Cornell was an odd choice but ti's good like I say. Wonder why they just didn't go for Audioslave though or maybe they did but Cornell was the only one who expressed interest??? Moderators DavidB Posted February 17, 2007 Moderators Share Posted February 17, 2007 His new solo album, which You Know My Name came from, is out around May I believe He's also been in Soundgarden and Audioslave (who split this year).
nicky
He's also been in Audioslave (who split this year). oh, I didnt know that, I liked them too. Maybe that explains why they didnt to the song instead of him solo.
Moderators DavidB Posted February 18, 2007 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2007 I only read about it the other day. Seems to be a pretty recent thing .. Audioslave No More?Chris Cornell exits band, prepares new solo album. by IGN Music US, February 16, 2007 - Chris Cornell, frontman for Audioslave, the group that arose from the ashes of both Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine, has announced his departure. Cornell has stated publicly, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors." Just because Cornell is leaving Audioslave doesn't mean that he's giving up music. Not by a long-shot. In fact, on May 1st, 2007, Cornell will release his second solo effort, Carry On. Cornell's debut solo disc, Euphoria Morning, was released back in 1999 and his most recent solo work included the "You Know My Name," the theme song to Casino Royale. For the 14 track Carry On Cornell enlisted the services of legendary producer Steve Lillywhite. Titles of some of the songs include "Safe and Sound," "Scar On The Sky," "Finally Forever," "Disappearing Act," "Ghost," "Arms Around Your Love" and "She'll Never Be Your Man," "Killing Birds," "Silence the Voices," "No Such Thing," "Poison Eye," "Your Soul Today," plus Cornell's interpretation of the Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean." The album will also include "You Know My Name." As for where Cornell was coming from in terms of his lyrical inspiration? He has this to say: "The most exciting thing is to let yourself expose your true, vulnerable feelings, which is what resonates with people most." jalliser
I didn't like that song at all. A poor choice for a Bond song.
