Why has Sigourney Weaver not done a show yet?

Arguably the Queen of sci-fi would no doubt be a massive draw for countless fans but I've been wondering why she hasn't done a Showmasters event in the UK. She is very passionate about the Alien films and the character Ripley all these (35!) years later and she is familiar with the convention circuit in the US. She knows what signing events and guest talks involve and I reckon she's clearly up for it. So what's holding someone like her back from attending a UK event?

If it's simply her fee, with all the talk of Showmasters looking at bigger and bigger guests, I for one would be happy to pay for Weaver.

I recntly watched an Aliens Reunion event on youtube and it was amazing that they were nearly all there. Bill Paxton seems VERY ethusiastic about his role in Aliens and has done signing events now - could be be in with a good shout of someone like him. Or Ian Holm who was touted as a possibility a few years back when SM asked if people would be willing to pay x amount for certain guests?

I mainly go to the shows for aliens guests so for me this would be amazing. I'd happily pay whatever to meet Sigourney, same with Bill Paxton if not more so.

I'm sure showmasters have tried in the past but maybe things weren't finalised due to schedule, fees, etc. I'm optimistic Sigourney will be over here sometime in the future, maybe for aliens 30th year anniversary if not alien 35th!

This year is the 35th Anniversary of Alien (2 months ago!)

I mainly go for Alien guests too. Was gutted when Yaphet Kotto cancelled on Autographica in 2012 and I missed him the first time he was over because I wasn't doing these shows. I hear Harry Dean Stanton doesn't like to fly and Ian Holm is not getting any younger.

Sometimes I read this threads and just think "whatever" because, you know, Sean Connery ain't ever turning up no matter how much someone on an internet forum may like to see him, but with Weaver, she's big but nonetheless a realistic possibility. She would be epic and clearly she is up for it. TBH I'd appreciate any Alien series guests in future as I only have 10 so far.

For whatever reason I always thought Paxton wouldn't be up for this sort of thing, but seeing him at other conventions I think he'd be game!

I would love more actor from Alien 3 and Resurrection as well. I know the latter is especially reviled by many but I liked it and it has an excellent cast. Ron Perlman, Michael Wincott, Dan Hedaya anyone? I'd also like to see Tom Woodruff Jr. as he is the man in the suit.

I would freak out!!

This is one of my favourite photos of all time, not sure what event it is from though -

It's happened before, please let it happen again!

That is AMAZING.

I'm only speculating of course, but I would think the two main reasons she hasn't yet done a show yet in the U.K. would be:

Cost - Based on some of the costs for photoshoots / autos I have seen for Sigourney and putting on top of that costs to get her to the U.K, first class airfare, top hotel etc, it would be a pretty big outlay I would think to get her over to the U.K, although if anyone can I think Showmasters would be in the best position to do it.

Schedule - Sigourney is still working regularly and so it may be easier to schedule her in for a half day or one day appearance in the USA, but not so easy for us to take say 4 days out of her schedule to come to the UK with the impact that would have in terms of jet lag etc

With the size of London Film and Comic Con though, it wouldn't surprise me if she is now becoming a realistic target but I think a 3 figure auto and photo cost is going to be the case.

What is the going rate for Sigourney photoshoots/autos at events in the states?

As you say, I'm sure it would be a large outlay for Showmasters but I also think she is one of those guests people would go that extra mile for. I'd rather not pay 3 figures, but I would do it because it's Sigourney Weaver! To many sci-fi fans she is guest that could never be topped, EVER.

As for her schedule, I'm glad she's still in work, but for the right amount of money I'm sure Showmasters could grab her for 3-4 days. Well I hope so anyway! The pictures above really do give me a glimmer of hope it might happen one day in the not too distant future.

Personally she's probably one of the only people I'd pay triple figures to see, I think she is amazing. Let's hope she can find the time and SM can fund the money for it to happen one day?!

By way of example, for a 3-day event, including panels, signings and photoshoots; Sigourney's going rate is about £60,200... That's before her expenses.

£70 per auto x say 800 autos per day (Sat & Sun) = £112,000.

That doesn't include Friday, or photoshoots and I'm sure Showmasters could justifiably charge more for her. If you're numer is correct I don't see how it couldn't work even with expenses on top.

That's me converting from the Canadian dollar figure that I was told was paid for the event at which that pic above was taken.

Her agent's website states:

DETAILS
Please Note, Final Fee will depend on several factors: Location of the event, where the celebrity is traveling from, length of time commitment at event, if a book signing or not, number of people traveling for the event, etc. The following prices are ONLY average fees.

Minimum Fee - U.S. Dates
$30,000-$75,000
Minimum Fee - Intl. Dates
$75,000-$150,000

I wonder if Stan Lee's fee was much more or less then that? I'm curious now!

Even if that £60,200 figure is about right, you have to fly Sigourney here and probably her agent, P.A. etc and I'm guessing they would all want first class, then you've got to put them up in a hotel for 3/4 nights in London, I think you could easily double that amount. I don't know how quick Sigourney signs, but if she is going to be involved in photoshoots and talks, I think 800 might be too excessive based on the recent events with Stan. Say you went for 250 autos on Friday, then 500 autos on Sat and Sun at say £80 a hit, that would give you £100,000 plus you sell 800 photoshoot tickets also at £80 that's another £64,000 plus 500 seats at £30 a head for a talk - £15,000, That would give you a potential income over the weekend for Sigourney of £179,000. I think that might be a runner, even if income and costs were very close, to have her at the event would also attract a whole load more people in through the door, so on top of the Sigourney specific income you would sell a lot more early bird and standard entry tickets as well.
