Now that its limited 12 ep run is over, i just wondered what everyone thought of it?

Were you happy it came back?

I was well chuffed when it returned and it was as good as ever for me, with the action and the storyline reminding me of the earlier seasons when the show was at its best!!

Hopefully we get a Season 10 now but somehow i doubt it...

I was waiting for it to finish airing before I started watching it (can't handle waiting a full week between episodes!). So gonna start watching it this weekend I think.

I'm really pleased they dropped it to 12 episodes. As much as i loved 24, it often felt pretty dragged out. The side stores where Kim was constantly being kidnapped were really dull. I re-watched season 2 on Netflix recently. It should take about 15-16 hours to watch (44 mins per episode), but thanks to Netflix thumbnail preview on the timebar, I was able to skip all of the content that involved Kim. Amazingly I got through the whole season in about 11 hours (which shows you how much time they wasted on Kim's side plot).

Soooo, I'm really looking forward to watching a slimmed down version :D

Phew glad i never gave away any spoilers!!

You're in for a treat tho man, the 12 hours limitation really streamlines how much they can have going on storywise.

So like you say, there's very little in the way of fluff to pad out the main "Jacks chasing a such and such...." storyline this time around.

For me its up there with Season Ones Palmer Assassination plot that took the whole 24 episodes cos it really does fit so nicely in the 12 hours this time...although there are a few cheeky time jumps along the way that aren't quite real-time but still.

Hope you enjoy it...id be interested to know what you thought once you've seen it.

And i promise, as vocal as ive been about this series, I swear i've gave nothing away...

Enjoy...

  • 2 weeks later...

Just finished it at the weekend. Fantastic series! It was the right move reducing it to 12 episodes. It was much more direct and to the point with no crappy side stories. Awesome stuff.

I hope they make another series!

Glad you liked it, mate.

The more people i talk to, the more i realise there is still definately the demand from people for another few series, at least!

I think well get a Season 10 to be honest, even it does have to yet again go through a character reboot of New President, New Agency folks, the obligatory New Mole, so i'm hopeful we're not done yet.

All i want in the world though, is a scenario where Jack need help asap - perhaps has to go through unofficial, back channels and find someone among the criminal underworld to help him, maybe...say, someone he used to work with and at one time wouldve called his brother in arms?

Cue Gravelly-Prison voice on the other end... :angry2: "Jack....Long Time..." .

We all know who i mean.

Sorely miss that guy and he was all that was missing from 24:LAD tbh.

Put that in the new one, i'll watch another ten years..

overall i enjoyed it, started ok and ended well, was a bit dodgy in between. i do think though it suffered greatly from the reduced ep count and the obvious speed at its production. it felt rushed alot and there was too much time jumping for me. good last ep though. and i loved the surprise villain, finally something i didnt see coming in live another day.

highlights, jack you may think youre at an advantage line lol, Jacks window entry and elimination, great old villain reveal, emotional loss into jack final assault & samurai jack, jack and chloe.

negatives, whole production felt rushed almost all the time, one of the big shocks was a shock until you realise its blatantly a fake and it annoyed me, a bit like how they bottled regenerating tennant in doctor who journeys end. theres not enough solo jack, reduced ep count helped make it feel rushed.

I agree that Jacks final stand at the end of the finale was standout.

Interestingly enough, its basically a shot-for-shot remake of the Drazen last stand, and in similar circumstances too from Season One - minus the swords, of course.

Seriously, go watch the last 8 minutes of the Season One finale and you'll see what i mean.

I've also always thought that the way Henderson buys it in Season 5 is exactly the way Drazen does in the Season One finale too - Exactly.

Show running out of ideas? Maybe.

But i still want more of this show. Much more.

Its like my favourite thing ever....<sigh>

yeah alot of bits re used and it did remind me of s1 the finale, but thats what i want lol, i watch for jack and jack all out one man assault over an exhausting 24 hour period with double crosses and shocks, lol, its what i want. unfortunatly aside the baddie return i saw all the twists coming in live another day and the Wembley bluff just p**** me off.

reducing the ep count cheapens their costs i guess but it takes away their USP, so often youre like, hold up, how much time has passed? in live another day. the production was clearly rushed too, more than half way through airing they were still filming. and in a few scenes it shows.

gotta say though, the few stand out bits made live another day worthwhile for me, those bits i loved and thats what i want, the window chucking scene was brilliant, i was like DAMN! although not a twist, i wasnt expecting that so that was nice too.

i fear though we are stuck with 24 lite and jack lite now. kiefer looks a bit too thin for me too, i hope hes doing well.

love 24 so im still with it, really hope we get a proper 24 eps series soon, like this was a relaunch to see if the audience was still there and they can proceed again, maybe im being foolish and if it continues we are stuck on 12 eps

would love to see tony and pierce back

the one good thing about the reduced ep count was we didnt spend an age with white house sub plots. which were getting stale. but i still prefer a 24 ep count

Outstanding..

Lets face it...he's in everything. He's got quite the sci-fi rep, i think, not just 24!

Transformers, X-men: First Class, Enterprise - although the episode he was in has to be the worst one they ever made!!

I'm a fan of his for sure, so, nicely done for meeting him!

Good to know he lives up to the good guy image in person, too!! :chair:
