Other Fairytale Shows?

This is more of a hypothetical question, but if there was another fairytale-based show to come out before May, is there any chance in that being added to the theme of the con?

I only say this as there's a Beauty and the Beast pilot coming out, and would be great for cast from that to be included if it gets picked up xD

This isn't a new show, it was made in 2000. It was originally shown on Sky and has been repeated a few time.

The 10th Kingdom

Trailer >

A father and daughter are caught in a parallel universe where the great queens Snow White, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood have had their kingdoms fragmented by warring trolls, giants and goblins.

It is one of those Hallmark miniseries. This one was a 10x 1 hour part series.

There was talk and people wanted a sequel set in the other Kingdom's but they never made it sadly. Hallmark made/make quite a few mini-series about fairytales and the like.

This one had a good cast with amongst other:

John Larroquette (Night Court, Boston Legal)

Robert Hardy (All Creatures great and Small)

Ed O' Neil (Married with Children, Modern Family)

Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner)

Warwick Davis (Star Wars, Willow, Harry Potter)

Dianne Weist (Law and Order, Law and Order Special Victims Unit, In Treatment)

Peter Vaughan (Citizen Smith, Fox and too much to be mentioned in an 50+ year career)

Jimmy Nail (Auf Wiedershen Pet, Spender)

Syfy do mini series based on fairytales.

They've done Alice, which is a retake on Alice in Wonderland which is fab! and they've done Tin Man which is a retake on Wizard of Oz. They are always doing new shows like that.

Granted they're only 2 part, 2hr 30min episodes but they are amazing with a fantastic cast. I was actually thinking of Cosplaying as the Alice Character for one of the parties!

Here's a trailer for Alice <

Which has a cast like Tim Curry, Cathy Bates, Andrew Lee Pots, Caterina Scorsone and many more that are all amazing actors!

Here's a trailer for Tin Man< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Rw1YpseHk which also has an amazing cast of Zooey Deshanel, Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough, Kathleen Robertson who are all amazing in that show!

I would suggest diluting the event with other older/shorter fairy tale shows wouldn't be the best idea. I think at least OUAT and Grimm are both new, fresh and successful, and only growing in popularity. I know lots of people that watch both.

Bit late to do anything 10th Kingdom-related, and even though the cast might be popular for other stuff, that would make them better suited to Collectormania or LFCC etc. Same with the stuff like Alice and Tin Man - people like Zooey, Alan Cumming etc.

So yeah, imo I don't think there's any point in throwing in older fairy tale-based shows because there's just not a strong enough market for them to attract more customers. I doubt someone would come along for one 10th Kingdom guest, for example. Plus 1 guest from something else means one less Grimm/OUAT one, and less guests from that = fans less likely to attend.

As for something like Beauty And The Beast .. it might be too soon to jump on that, depending on how well it does etc. Perhaps something to keep in mind for a future con, rather than this one.

I agree with you David. It was really just a back up if getting guests is diffcult. As the con is built on two shows and not one that shouldn't be an issue. What I wouldn't want is guests from the Whedon shows or LOTR purely because they are popular if they have no link to these two shows. The shows mentioned above do at least keep within with the theme of "fairytale" and not an tenuous link of saying episode xxx of season xx of Buffy/Angel/Charmed had a fairytale theme/content.
