Attendance Figures?

Recommended Posts

I find these figures hard to believe!!! Although I was there all weekend and it was obviously packed out!!! However, even Earls court themselves say that the max capacity for Earls court two is only 11k and for Brompton Hall only 5k.

If as they say they got 80000 people last year why did they not move into Earls Court One which has a max capacity of 20k???

We are going over numbers and we all saw there was a lot more of you than ever before.

The hall numbers of 16K is the amount at one time and some people do only spend 1 or 2 hours at the show and the turn over is quite large and we find around 40% of the early birds leave as the standard entry come in from past experience. Even at 4 pm we are getting 100s of people buying tickets to come in just for a hour or so .

If we could have booked EC1 we would have as it would have been a lot easier on us not having to work in two halls that are separate, but as vital downtime repair was taking place in EC1 we could not book it.

As to the amount we do get these numbers , we will have a total figure soon but it was way up on any other year before.

I had a huge 4 hour break between photoshoots when I wasn't getting autographs either but couldn't leave as I had my last photoshoot at 5pm. Because we dont know when the shoots will take place til the week of the event we can't plan to get there early, do a few things and then just leave unfortunately, so I was there all day, even though I didn't have much to do on Saturday after lunchtime.

I think I must be one of the 60% then. When I've paid £16.50 for a train ticket, £15 (plus P&P) to get in and there's stuff on I want to do all day...I'm not going till it closes. ;)

It varies from year to year for me. Sometimes I've got what I wanted, popped out to a more relaxed event, then popped back an hour before the end

Depends on VQ ticket numbers, any talks I wanted to attend, and what else there is to do in London same day. This year I couldn't get out when I wanted to - even to just go next door - as the time I first tried I was told I might not be able to get back in again.

This is why I didn't leave and come back again, I was to scared I wouldn't get back in.

the thing was, we couldn't leave and come back because the VQ system w/ anthony and another guest were such shambles, we didn't get to meet either of them even though we spent the entire afternoon waiting for someone to write new numbers on the boards..then, when we were almost at the other guest, we had a photoshoot clash

Well, and because a lot of people actually stayed, for whatever reason, the halls filled up more than usual.

I think it's because it generally took about 10-15 mins to cross the hall to reach the exit, plus there was no seating outside and too many smokers. I know that's why I decided to just take some time out in the Cosplay stage seating area.

Shock, people actually bothered to stay? How dare they.

Ignore the sarcasm. I don't understand this expectation for people to leave after a couple of hours. There's so much going on these days, with talks, photos, large numbers of guests, comic stuff, stalls, surely it's reasonable to think people will stay to make the most of it or just because it takes so long to queue to see some of the guests.

My friends and I do and always have. Sometimes we go outside for some air or to eat but we were all concerned about the huge numbers and not being able to get back in on Saturday so stayed in EC2 all day. Doesn't seem unreasonable to expect anyone else who realised how busy it was going to be to do the same. If it was just about getting a couple of autographs then maybe we would leave but it isn't.

LOL, what I should say about flying over from Switzerland friday afternoon and leaving monday late afternoon? :whistling: paying for the flight about £ 300,00 + Hotel 234.00.

Im staying then also the whole time at the event. But I was honestly tired sunday afternoon and after Sherilyn Fenn has cancled I left the event earlier. And also money run out. So I missed a few guests but i took it this time more or less relaxed.

Well.. I wasn't the only one who travelled from Switzerland. Even people from Germany and France had been at the Event.

Anyway.. about all those people who had been at the event.. I have expected it would be much more busy in the Hall. I found it in 2010 + 2011 more chaotic. LOL - maybe myself i was chaotic and stressed then

Maybe its worth doing a survey? Find out who arrived and left when and who they were seeing/what they were doing? It would give you an updated view as to if its still the same percentages. I do LOVE a good survey. Can't beat market research as anyone who's watched the apprentice knows. ;)

I could see why someone local might come for a short time...but with bigger guests and more international visitors they are going to be staying longer and strategies might need updating.

I stayed all day as I had things to do, also wanted to make the most of it since it was my first convention, and had planned things to do nearby after 6 anyway (GOT commentary on Saturday, meeting my cousin for drinks Sunday). But my brother came mainly to see the 1989 Batmobile so he came Sunday around 4 and then looked at the stalls for stuff to buy till it was time to meet our cousin.

I stayed all day on Saturday - I did come in and out to get some fresh air; I wasn't told about being not let back in and didn't have any problems with coming back in but I'll repeat it was too busy and with no where to sit I went outside. I stayed mainly for Summer Glau autograph but I looked at some of the stall. Being there at 6.30 to make sure I could get Stan Lee's VQ ticket I was hoping I could have left by 3 or 4 but it was around 6 when I left.

Sunday - I only stayed until 11; I had a couple items put back for me that I needed to collect and then had a look around some of the stalls, bought some things but was so tired and hurt from the day before I didn't want to stay in there when they next lot of people would come in (standard tickets) but this is the first time I have ever left early from a event.
