8 x 10 Photos at the Cons

So I already realise that SM provide 8 x 10 photos at the conventions for each guest.

There are a few 'priority' guests I am seeing at C24 and LFCC this year that I want specific photos / items for them to sign, so obviously I will buy them in advance and bring them along to the show.

However, for other 'non-priority' guests I am happy to rely on and choose one of the 8 x 10s that SM have an offer. I just wondered from other peoples experiences whether this has ever proven a problem for them. In other words, have SM ever ran out of 8 x 10s for a particular guest?

Also, I know SM won't comment on what 8 x 10s they are providing in advance but from my experience at LFCC last year, they did seem to have a good selection for most guests covering their major roles. Would other people agree that this is the case?

Grateful for your thoughts!

Certain photos of guests have run out, yes. There's never been a guest that ran completely out, but some went from 4 images to two.

There is usually a selection of the bigger roles, I agree. But even if it's a bigger role and should be covered, if you have one bring it to be safe. As said above, pictures can and will run out.

I find the range of photos on offer are generally good covering the major roles that the guests are known for. I haven't known them to run out of stock.

To get an idea what photos will be available on the day I check out the autograph photos that can be pre ordered and the ones SM use on the forums when making guest announcements.

If they're a guest who has been in a lot of things and you want them for one of their not-so-big roles, it might be worth seeing if you can get your own pic in advance.

The first time I met MyAnna Buring at a Convention, I was disappointed to see there were no photos for one of my favourite roles of hers so I had to choose something else. Nowadays, I would print out the pic in advance for someone like that.

Most guest you should be fine for, however. But for someone who has a lot of small roles in big films - e.g. a stunt performer, maybe - it would be best to come prepared.

there's usually a number of dealers who sell photos from thier tables and some like 'stateside stills' (who allways support showmasters events) have sections of stock concentrating on show guests only. unlikely you won't be able to get what you want.

I am guessing as for Alan Trudyk at LFCC he is going to be popular his rogue one autos will may sell out very quickly as it is his recent role for him which is why I am not going to take the risk on getting his auto in case they run out so I am bassicly taking my special edition rogue one imax poster to be signed from him it may be upsetting for me if it ever happened to me but wen it's sold out on the auto it's sold out there would be nothing else I would do about it.

I would suggest u should order your auto from a website for the particular guest your looking for

First, take a breath. Please. ;)

Second, you are mixing up a lot of things. Autos can't sell out. Pictures for autographs MAY run out under certain circumstances as explained above. But never ever I have seen a guest completely run out of photos. The crew keeps an eye on stock, worst case they will get additional ones printed.

What can run out are virtual queue tickets for a guest. But even then not all hope is lost. People have to leave early or give up - a lot of times in the late afternoon even guests who had VQ tickets completely gone had an open queue.

There is absolutely no need to pre-order autos, especially not "from a website." If you feel the need to do that the only reliable source is the official preorder service.
