Meeting him yesterday was amazing! I went to get my photo op in the morning, took a first picture, he then bent down cause I'm pretty small and the photographer took a second one. I apologised for being small and he gave me a little rub on the shoulder telling me to never apologise about that  He took the time to have a short chat with me at his desk, which I definitely didn't expect! The staff was also great and really did their best :)

I am small too and I do like when the guest comes down a bit particularly a tall guest as photos dont look quite right otherwise and always need to be take  long ways.  most do but a couple havent but I havent said anything or asked for re-shoot I just dont frame or display those ones.

He just did it on the spot I didn't even ask for a reshoot, but it was pretty adorable of him to do it :)

What tends to happen is the specialist security tell the crew one thing, then the guest does another, either because of the security being too cautious, or the guest would prefer no (or minimal) touching but is too polite to refuse. I would think with BC today as long as you don't want a hug or something extravagant he'll be fine.

It wasn't a problem for me, as I had no intention of touching ol' Benny.

This.  I was in the beginning of that shoot and yeah we were told by the crew that he didn't want to be touched at all.  So everyone piles in and asks Mads for a hug instead trying to be respectful of Benedict's wishes.  Benedict rolled with doing funny poses at the side but was obviously confused as he knows we would usually be making a bee line for him.  I was near to the front so had my shoot, doing the same thing and hugged Mads but Benedict was a wally and stepped back too far so half of him was cut out of the picture. The photographer and crew told me to go around again so I basically saw him ask a woman a few places in front why no one was hugging him.  When she told him he turned to the crew and said that the no hugging thing was really stupid and could they please stop telling people that.  As far as I am aware it was all normal after that.

I found Benedict to be one of the nicest if not the nicest guest I met. I mean they were all nice and I'm a huge Mads fan and I was looking forward to meeting him most of all but something about BC that stood out. It was non stop for him on both days and to still be smiling and happy to greet you right to the end just shows what a great guy he is. He must have seen over 2000 people, surely.

He did that with someone today, they were doing the portal summoning pose from Strange and the person was just starting to move away when Benedict asked them to stop and for the photographer to take another as he thought their arm was too high and the picture wouldn't be good.

I love that not only did so many people get to meet him but that they got to see what a thoroughly nice chap he is,

He was wasn't he.  Even during his last shoot he was still happy and willing and cared that people got good pictures.

My experience with him was the worst. 

I won't say that he is not kind because I don't know him and I know he had a lot to do but yesterday I cried when I was back in my hotel. 

In fact I wanted to hug him and he pushed me (not strongly, nobody has noticed anything)  and had his fingers on my neck and shoulder as to keep me not too close to him. On the picture he smiles and we can't see his fingers on my neck and shoulder and he thanks me. So the picture is perfect. 

I cried when I was back in my hotel because of my (stupid)  sensitivity. I wondered what did I do. (Always been rejected in life so I had that feeling with him). 

All the others stars were great with me so I didn't think that he could behave differently from others guests. 

But I asked someone I know who is used to comic con ( it's only my second Comic con where I do photoshoots) she answered me it's wasn't my fault but that Benedict doesn't like hugs. 

I must admit that I thought  he was like his friend Matt Smith which whom I didn't have time to finish my sentence that he already had his arms around me. 

With all the others guests I watched how they were with people but I haven't done it with him because I was talking with people and laughing with the girl into the staff who placed us about my bowtie. (Bowties are cool). 

It's my only regret but I ll be more careful about any future guest I ll meet because I didn't want to do something wrong. 

Anyway I've spent a great time in LFCC, talked to a lot of people, laughed with them and with some of the crew too. 

I'll probably be back next year.

Gotta agree, even though his schedule was hectic to say the least he made sure he spoke to everyone in the photoshoots. He asked me how I was and thanked me for coming out. What a sweetie.

I would like to point out that the first person who did this wasn't being respectful, he was very much trying to hurt BCs feelings.

I'm really, really sorry. But it's true what your friend said, some guests just don't like doing hugs. We always recommend to watch what is happening in the line before you to get "a feeling" of what the guest may like or not. Usually the crew makes an announcement too, but with everyone being so excited sometimes this is just not noticed. I am 110 percent sure Benedict did not mean to hurt your feelings in any way.

I don't have to feel sorry for me you know ;-) I should have watched because for example I did with Lalla Ward and saw that she didn't hug anyone so I took a pose like her and the picture was great. I know he didn't mean to hurt me. And I understand him. It can be frightening sometimes to meet unknown people. A lot a people complain about Jenna Coleman because they say she is cold but I felt she was shy and at the photoshoot she allowed me to take her in my arms but she didn't do it with me. I felt she didn't feel at her ease but we can see kindness into her eyes in my picture. She is not cold at all. (Sorry I'm not into the subject in here). 

I'll be more careful next time :-)

I'm really sorry about what happened, I am the kind of person who doesn't really like hugs even with my close friends and family. Just make sure to ask before to be sure you don't get into that situation again :)

I just hate hearing someone cried, sorry.

Yeah, sometimes it can be frightening. At a show several years ago someone touched a female guest in an area where she did not expect to be touched. So of course a "no touching" rule was implemented. The photos after that looked a little awkward. But I didn't blame the poor woman one bit.

Can I just say, I am so glad I met him. My younger brother and I got VT 88 and 89, and we went in together (he was the one who got the auto, I was there as support as he is 7). Benedict was so nice! He said hello to my brother and shook his hand, and asked him for his name. Despite the "no personalisations" sign, he still personalised for my brother. 

Benedict is a top guest and I hope SM will get him back in the future.

Yes I'll be more careful. I'm someone who likes hugs (but never received some)  so when I saw that some of them were keen on it I wanted to do the same but sure I will be more careful

Was just sharing what I thought at that time. If you have never been rejected in your life I m glad for you. 

Unfortunately I wasn't as lucky as you because I've always been bullied and rejected even now and due to that I've to struggle with a feeling of abandon.

After all my stressing and worrying about potentially getting an auto on Saturday I GOT ONE!! I was 12th in the VQ, and about 20 people after I got through the partition, they closed the booth, so a complete close call :) 

And, I ended up going on Sunday as well. Just delighted with the whole weekend, I had the most wonderful time, Benedict was absolutely lovely, as was Benedict Wong who is now my second favourite Benedict. I got my picture with them both individually and as a pair, when we did a little Beyonce's Single Ladies dance! 

For me, as a long-time Cumberfan, it was brilliant to be among so many people who were as excited to see him as I was! 

Thanks so much to the LFCC crew and everyone who was a part of the weekend - loved the atmosphere of fun and inclusiveness and now cannot wait for next year :)

Really nice guy. Gave me my fave photo of the weekend. The pose was to fold our arms and looking like we were posing for a rap album, but Cumberbatch didn't hear me so he improvised, threw his arms up in the air and pulled the happiest face I have ever seen him pul. Absolutely chuffed.
