  1. All of us at Showmasters are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend, the incomparable Adam West. For those of you that knew Adam and had a chance to meet him at various conventions worldwide, you'll know just how much he enjoyed meeting his fans. His last scheduled UK appearance at London Film and Comic Con was a testament to his dedication to those who supported him through the years and his willingness to put smiles on faces despite what may be going on in his own life. We of course share everyone's sadness that Adam will not be with us in London and in the upcoming weeks we will be discussing appropriate ways to pay tribute to a man who was an icon and hero to so many all over the world. Batman remains one of the most popular superheroes of all time to this day, but when Adam West took on the character the world was a much different place to what it is now. The comic con boom and huge movie franchises were nothing but a pipe dream in the 1960s, but West brought a charm and charisma to the caped crusader that would stay in the hearts and minds of people for decades to come. To think that here in 2017 Adam West would still be one of the most popular guests at a comic con speaks volumes for just how beloved his performances as Batman were, and the impact he had on so many lives. With the release of the TV series on Blu-ray, as well as the cartoon Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders in 2016 based on the 1960s series, West not only remained a hero to kids all fully grown up now but whole new generations that were able to appreciate his work with Burt Ward, Cesar Romero, Frank Gorshin, Julie Newmar and others. His recognisable voice led to work on Family Guy and other animated series such as a number of Disney movies, different Batman series as a variety of characters and a couple of appearances in The Simpsons as both himself and Batman. Recently he even got to appear on The Big Bang Theory solidifying his place in geek culture to a whole new audience. We treasure the time we got with Adam back in 2004 at our first ever London Film & Comic Con and he will always be a big part of why we have been able to grow so much over the years. Much like Carrie Fisher and Kenny Baker in recent times, in Adam West we have lost a true icon and one we will not forget. No matter how many people take on the role of Batman over the years and in the future Adam's legacy will live on forever. We certainly wouldn't be where we are today without him. For those who purchased tickets for Adam West's appearance at LFCC - these will be automatically refunded.

  4. Hey guys, This is just something that i wanted to share. I did my first cosplay at Collectormania 24 after finally building up the courage to give it a go. Throughout most of my life I have had little confidence and self esteem. This is due mainly to being very overweight during my child/teenage years. I managed to lose a lot of weight a few years ago but still lack a lot of confidence as I still see myself the way I used to be (I know it sounds silly). I am so glad that I managed to finally give cosplay a go. I really didn't know what to expect and I was so nervous. After entering the show I was first approached by a young girl and her mom and asked to pose for a photo which I was more than happy to do. The mom said to me that I really made her daughters day and it was the happiest she has been all weekend. From then on I was constantly stopped for photos and people being very complimentary towards my cosplay. I am writing this to firstly say thank you to Showmasters foe running these events but a huge thank you to all of the attendees. I have always had extremely low self esteem but by finally doing a cosplay at this event and by mingling with so many friendly people I feel the best that I have ever felt and my confidence has improved dramatically. I will encourage anybody with confidence or self esteem issues to give cosplay at a Showmasters event a go and I look forward to cosplaying again at LFCC. I am sorry for this long post but it is something I have kept bottled up for many years and I finally feel comfortable to share it and I hope it may help somebody who may be experiencing a similar situation

  8. Well I'm the manliest man that ever manned and I've watched it all the way through twice. I'm sure I've said this on this forum before, but the first time I tried to watch an episode I had a headache, and the GGs incessant chatter nearly made me jump out of my window. You get used to it though.

We talked also about his appearance in "Bonanza" (he was happy that I did know also some of his other works). Also his wife was very Kind. Im very happy that I took the Chance to flying over that Long way to meet this legend.

  19. Hi GrootsBrother! Since you're new you probably aren't familiar with the "local custom" of starting an appreciation thread for some of the guests, after the event. If you want, you can read here the one for Mr. Renner, from last year's forum: Pretty much everyone who met him was impressed, myself included :) Well, I'm a man and I have watched the first two seasons. The storylines may not be the best there are, but the characters are cool and the dialogue is brilliant. Check it out!

  25. I think I need bullet points: I only started posters this year so my Buffy, Firefly and Supergirl posters with 2, 2 and 7 signatures respectively don't really match up to most of those above. I'm glad I've never watched Game of Thrones, and don't feel a particular affinity with Dr Who or Star Wars because they look expensive. Impressive though. I think T-Pain wins the 'most number of squiggles on one thing' comp. Interesting (sort of) that only Rob has gone for personalised. What a shame Collateral Beauty is a terrible film. Re RayRay's Sherlock picture: I'm not sure why Rolf Harris has signed it (bottom right).

  36. Had no idea he was suffering from leukemia. terrible way to go I don't know what the ramifications of doing this would involve, but I think it would be really, really neat if we could keep Adam's desk and picture up in his memory and do a leukemia charity collection or something there. Not sure if he had any favorite charities, but maybe something Showmasters could think about?

  42. It's not just you. People I work with are often surprised to find out I'm 22. Apparently I barely just look 18 at best. Which is peculiar, mind, as ever since I was 14 I always used to get "what, you're only *age*?? I thought you were in your twenties!"... so something, somewhere along the way, went strangely wrong.
